  1. From the Q&A on amazon re: Taxas Tackle... " Question: Are all the Texas Tackle split ring pliers on Amazon counterfeit? Answer: I received one of the pairs from Amazon that is marked "Taxas Tackle" on the pliers themselves. They seemed authentic outside of this. I emailed the manufacturer and they confirmed that these are legit. The "Taxas" misspelling was a mistake on a recent production run. By Kevin on August 27, 2020 "
  2. When does white work? Around here we've had a lot of success with white on the days when chartreuse or chartreuse/white works. That would be most days, but we fish a lot of heavily stained and frequently muddy shallow water. I've been told that chartreuse looks like white to a bass most of the time, but the bass aren't talking.
  3. The Blue Top D34M only has a C20 of 55 Ah. Will that keep you on the water long enough? www.optimabatteries.com/products/bluetop-d34m "Weight 43.50 C20 Capacity 55.00 Ah"
  4. Are they both using the 20-hour rate? And then there's weight. This West Marine.East Penn Group 31 weighs 69 pounds. www.westmarine.com/buy/west-marine--group-31-dual-purpose-agm-battery-105-amp-hours--15020258?recordNum=3 This Optima Group 31 weighs 61 pounds. www.batteriesplus.com/productdetails/battery/marine-and-boat/deep-cycle/bci-group-31m/opt8052=161 One is $340 and one is $360. Or, you can get a Group 31 Duracell AGM from BatteriesPlus for $240 minus 10% if you order online and pick it up. It's also made by East Penn/Deka and has a 105 AH 20-hr rating. They weight 67.5. I have 3 of them. www.batteriesplus.com/productdetails/battery/marine-and-boat/deep-cycle/bci-group-31m/sli31dtmagmdc Mine came with rope handles, but compare the nearly identical cases of the Duracell and the West Marine. The Duracell has a 30-mo warranty. West Marine is 18.
  5. Okay, I was hoping Minn Kota had developed one.
  6. Has Minn Kota started making a 3-blade prop?
  7. I think I'd consider getting a digital smart charger - Schumacher, NOCO, etc - and save your Manual charger for something else. I looked at the reviews on your charger there are something like 550 bad reviews (a 1 or 2) out of 4,000+ total reviews. A smart charger will have four phases - Bulk, Acceptance, Float & Equalization. Here's a short article on chargers. www.westmarine.com/WestAdvisor/Selecting-a-Battery-Charger Fwiw, I have an old metal Schumacher about like yours, a tiny metal maintainer that must be 30 years old, 2 old blue plastic Schumacher smart chargers (used to have 3, one quit) and a new 3-bank Minn Kota MK330pc. Also, fwiw, I've had 6 of the big Everstart Maxx and my friends still use them. I have Duracell AGM now.
  8. My 2014 Maxxum 70 came with a Weedless Wedge 2 and I highly recommend it. When my antique Minn Kota 12v on the transom broke I bought an Endura Max 55. As luck would have it my brand new never used spare prop for the Maxxum 70 is the recommended replacement for MKP-37 Power Prop that came on the 55. The MKP-32. https://minnkotamotors.johnsonoutdoors.com/sites/johnsonoutdoors-store/files/assets/misc/MI/M/MIN_productmanual_propeller-guide/MIN_productmanual_propeller-guide.pdf?_gl=1*1pukeff*_ga*OTkxMTEzNzk0LjE2MTE3NTUzMDY.*_ga_GTWTGQ93QM*MTYxMTc1NTMwNS4xLjAuMTYxMTc1NTMwOS41Ng..&_ga=2.99582110.1262425305.1611755306-991113794.1611755306
  9. Since 2014 I could store it either way - out for fishing and in to keep me from walking into the prop. After recently replacing the Lowrance transducer with the new Garmin transducer it appears to me I'm going to have to pick a direction and stick to it - and that's with the prop outside. The wire on the Garmin exits the transducer on the side instead of the front and is in danger of getting pinched when I rotate the prop inside. We'll see someday soon. The garage is below freezing.
  10. "Edit: yeah side ways as always" If you're using an iPhone try turning the phone sideways to take pics you want to post on line. I was always trying to rotate them, resave and repost and it never worked.
  11. Harbor Freight has some $6.99... "1/4 In. X 100 Ft. Glow In The Dark Polypropylene Rope" "glows in the dark for up to 5 hours"
  12. I'm using some old yellow 144# mason's line from Home Depot.
  13. I'll add that my favorite old spinning broomstick is a 7' All Star Coastal Select MHF 3/8 - 1 oz. of 12-25#. Not exactly a pure largemouth rod, but it works. I usually have a Shimano Sustain 4000FE on it. One spool has braid and one has mono.
  14. I've watched a lot of those Haulover Inlet vids. There are some seriously nice boats and many of the vids identify them by make and model and how they're powered. And for some of the largest, how many million they cost.
  15. I use them with a 2500-size reel loaded with 10- or 15-pound braid for 10.5" worms, frogs, toads and jigs. 10# Invisibraid breaks at 22# fwiw. Nothing like a big, cheap, stiff MH broomstick to horse a large bass out of scary places. The rod does the horsing, the reel gathers up the line. I've done it enough over the years that I bought a Conquest 843S. Nice rod, casts well, but it's a shame it doesn't have full cork. They're also useful the small breakers or soundside when a 9-, 10- or 11-foot rod is overkill.
  16. "with serial numbers registered and printed on the rods" There's a button on their site to Register Your Rod and you need the serial number or manufacture date. "All G. Loomis rods require warranty registration within 30 days of purchase. Registration has the benefit of the following warranty and service programs outlined in this guide: 1. Locate either the serial number or manufacture date on your rod and have it ready to enter in the form below." I'm 70 and I expect a lifetime warranty.
  17. The willow blades on my favorite 3/8 Booyah are fairly small, although I can't say what the size is off the top of my head. The hook is a 4/0. Okay, I measured one, the large blade measured 1 7/8" x 5/8". What's that, a size 4?
  18. I just ordered 6 colors of Ott's Garage 06 cranks to try out. The monkey was still asleep, so I got off easy. It was 20 this morning shortly after the sun came up, but I want to be prepared.
  19. A 3/8-ounce single- or double-blade works for bottom crawling if you put a large enough trailer on it. Something like a 3-, 4-, 5- or 6-inch curly tail lunker grub. I use 3/8-ounce spinnerbaits they're usually double willow. Most of our ponds and lakes have a lot of 8 to 12-foot heavily stained water.
  20. Here's a used 163-H for $194.50... www.ebay.com/c/79590034 "Falcon Cara Peacock Bass Special (CC-8-163H) Casting Rod Fishing 6'3" Heavy USA Condition: Used $160.00+ $34.50 Shipping"
  21. "...rolled by Shimano..." www.tackletour.com/reviewgloomisconquest843Crod.html "The Conquest rods are not just designed by the combined global team but continue to be manufactured through a global process that includes the blanks being rolled by Shimano and then sent to the U.S. where they are finished in the G.Loomis Woodland Washington factory." edited to add: "G.Loomis explained to us that the rod design process was an extensive one, with teams traveling back and forth, and some of the G.Loomis rod engineers including Dave Brinkerhoff being deployed in Asia for extended periods. After the design was complete it was then decided that the manufacturing of these rods would also be an international endeavor to ensure that they would leverage the best of what each team and manufacturing site had to offer." __________________________________________ https://payneoutdoors.com/g-loomis-shimano-announce-conquest-rod-line "With blanks rolled to exact G. Loomis specifications by Shimano incorporating its proprietary Spiral X and Hi-Power X processes, and then hand-finished at the G. Loomis facility in Woodland, Wash.,..."
  22. Isn't the Conquest a Japanese rod? The blanks are from Japan and Shimano has owned Loomis since 1997. "I have both, the conquest is a tad lighter for equal power" Thank you. I'm been doing a lot of reading during the past 2 or 3 weeks and every time I see a weight mentioned for a Megabass rod they seem a little high. And I like full cork grips, too.
  23. I have a lot of the same questions. I keep looking at the stats on the lighter P5 rods such as the Z-Crank and trying to figure out what the numbers mean in real life. At this point I'm thinking I would like a rod for small cranks and/or Rapala DT-4 and maybe -6. I own 3 Conquest casting rods: 783, 843 and 844, but have nowhere nearby to get my hands on Megabass rods. I could just order an 842C and be done with it.
  24. As far as covering the top of the battery, you could buy a $10 or $15 cheap battery box and just strap the lid over your battery to protect the wiring.
