  1. fivebass, do you have an idea of when Garcia will come out w/ a slower reel?
  2. Thanks that just what I was looking for...
  3. I think that most people here, young or old, would agree for beginners you should be fine with 12lb Triline XT.
  4. I agree with RW 100% Citicas are great reels. If you can find an avid for 100 bucks, you should be able too, BUY IT!!
  5. I am considering buying one for use on a crankbait rod. But I have heard mixed reviews about the braking system in these reels. I have heard that that are the best valued reel out there (I want to hear why) and I have heard they are only good for pitching and flipping and not ideal for flinging crankbaits (I want to hear why). I have a good thumb but that doesn't mean I don't need the brakes. Like most I don't enjoy getting out backlashes when I could be fishing. I don't want to spend 150 bucks to get a reel that will eventually end up on a flippin' stick. Please let me know if this reel would be a good/bad choice to put on a crankbait rod.
  6. I am looking for some good hooks to use for swimming frogs. I use horny toads and cane toads exclusively. What do yall use? I used Owner 5/0's last year but man those things are expensive.
  7. I know fishing involves water. But is it harmful to your reels if you are stuck in a major downpour and your reels get soaked?
  8. Alright ill give the mission fish a shot. 2 to 2.5 is probly too heavy though. I might also try out a Mattlures baby bass or bluegill.
  9. I have seen the mission fish before and I like the way they look. So these or the 6" Hudd could be thrown on my rod?
  10. Haha i guess that answers my question. I'm trying to find some pretty cheap swimbaits less than 20 bucks. But quality swimbaits.(I know probably not possible) I have a rod capable of throwing 1 1/2 oz baits. Any help fourbizz?
  11. Better have a heavy action rod and a reel spooled w/ at least 40lb braid. I like these and they catch fish but I would much rather be throwing my horny toads on a 5/0 owner EWG.
  12. Are they worth my money? About how much the the 5" versions weigh? The finish on these baits is amazing, so they look good. But I want to know about durability or other issues you have w/ them.
  13. just keep thinkin in the past my friend.....
  14. I think the best bang for the buck as far as flippin' rods goes is a Kistler Magnesium Flippin' Stick. I like my 7'6 rod.(doubles as a frog rod) If you want to through some swimbaits I would buy and 8 footer. But if you are going all flippin' I would get a 7'6.
  15. I am not really sure. I have handled both reels and the one sold at Dick's is not close to the real thing. It is heavy and does not feel like a quality reel. When you engage the reel and spin the spool w/ your thumb it turns a few times and then dies. I think you might be better off buying him a Shimano Citca from Delo's, 70 bucks with rebate. They are great reels and I like them over my Abu's.
  16. The Silver Max sold at Dick's is not the same reel. It is a reel made specifically for dicks. The reel alone costs over 40 bucks.
  17. WAR DA'MN EAGLE!!!!! six6six
  18. alright i want to know why alabama over auburn? alabama has no class at all and i was born w/ blue and orange runnin through me. i might have fallen for one the best poppers (hmmm reminds me of trey blackmon) or it could be a dud like JP wilson.
  19. How do you like these compared to the others T-rig?
  20. I fished w/ it but no fish. Its the middle of winter, I was just testing it out.i can expect to catch a fish on topwater middle of december in Alabama. It has pretty good action for such a big popper.
  21. River 2 Sea popper. They are made in california, i think is what the guy said. This is an awesome bait.
  22. You can get Citicas for 70 bucks at Delo's. www.deloscustomtackleshack.com
  23. I got one today and all I have to say is SWEET!!!

I like the XPS Football Heads.
  25. I think you just need to fish deeper water. Try jigs, worms, crankbaits, and a drot shot.
