Shelf/Slate Rock
Most of my fishing is done on the Coosa River on either Lay Lake or Lake Mitchell. The other day we were out on the boat and as we were driving down the lake we noticed that most of the bass boats we saw were not fishing the grass as usual but instead were fishing sharp dropoff banks with large flat rocks that are about 3-6 inches thick and cover the bottom. The banks drop off fairly fast, about 50 feet from the bank we were in 19 ft. Sorry i tend to type alot but what im getting at is what do yall usually use on these types of places? I fish at Smith Lake quite a bit and all we use are shaky heads fishing for spots over the slot. but as we were fishing, I caught one fish on a shaky head and my dad caught 2 on a large double willow spinnerbait. What would yall use?

Crankin line
I just use CX in a little big higher pound test to get the diameter evened out. CX is soft and casts farther than any line i haver ever used. I use it for all of my spinning reels and for my 2 cranking rods.

Lay Lake
Out on the lake today i tried fishing the drainage pipe for the Gaston Steam plant. I tried a crankbait and spinnerbait but couldnt get anything to bite. For people who fish lay lake, how do you usually catch fish at the spot? if you dont mind me asking

Guntersville
just a question. Which end of the lake would you go to if you had to put a 6+ pound fish in the boat? we have two lake houses to rent and i am the deciding vote and they are both of opposite ends of the lake.

Aaron Martens Lure
I live near the Coosa River where he filmed that show and most people around here already know about them and use them for both spots and largemouth. I use them and catch alot of fish w/ them but i always go back to a shaky head and crankbait/topwater for when they are schooling (i like the odds w/ 6 hooks vs. just one)

Fishing The Rocks
I use shakey heads in the rocks. I never lose jigs and it will catch you small fish too.

Favorite Popper
What are yalls favorite poopers? Mine is a R2S BubblePop 65. I catch some of my best spots on this popper. It is soon becoming one of my top 3 lures for spotted bass and top 5 for largemouth.

Dry Ice and Tubes?
Today while launching the boat at lay lake i was talking to a guy down on the pier about the fishing. He said they were bedding pretty good and he would be sight fishing once the sun poked out. Then he put on gloves a whipped out a bag of dry ice and started filling the hollow body of flipping tubes with dry ice. Is the bubbling in the water supposed to drive the fish to bite because the fish are so finicky? I wish i would have seen him again to ask. Anyone know what the whole deal with this is and have you used this method?

Fishing on Weiss Lake??
My favorite place to fish up there is Yellow Creek. Fish around the sea walls leading into small coves with shakey heads and jigs. Also fish docks with shakey heads. I have caught 4 magnum spots and 2 7lbers in yellow creek doing exactly what I said. (The neighbors and my family used to own a house up there on Weiss) Most of what we did was crappie and some striper fishing. And bass fishing out of an old bass tracker w/ a little 50 mercury on it.

Smith Lake Crappie
Caught about 15 total. Largest weighed in at 2.3 lbs. Caught them in flooded bushes in the back of creeks with live minnows.

LEWIS SMITH
I fished up there this weekend and most of the fishing is focused around shakey heads and spots right now. I would also check out the eastern most part of the lake in the back of creeks for schooling fish.
