  3. Sounds like you're well on the way to having a great bond with her, which is not always easy with step-kids... As Ever, skillet
  4. I leave the cleaning of my baitcasters to someone like Reelmech (professional) for fear ending up with a few screws too many ;D. I have read on other posts that using WD40 on insides is not good. It breaks down any oil or grease your reel needs, not just the gunky stuff. Post a question about it, someone that knows more than me :-[will answer... As Ever, skillet
  5. I mainly fish small ponds and lakes here in the mid-south. Use almost any bait in ponds that I would use in a large lake. About the only type that I don't use much is diving crank baits and it's not that they don't work, they do. Fishing from the bank, if you get hung-up good, you'll probably lose the bait. Gets expensive if done very often ;D! Having said all that, I mainly use soft plastics T-rigged, jig'n'pig and top water. Not very specific but hope it helps... As Ever, skillet

  9. One other way to get line twist (for me) is using a Super Fluke, and it's worse than when using a Mepps in-line spinner. IMHO (could be wrong, I seem to remember once being wrong ;D) line twist in spinning gear is like professional overruns in bait casters, nature of the beast... As Ever, skillet
  10. I haven't used as many different named reels as lot of the other members, so maybe my reply won't hold as much water. I bought one of the early releases and it was fixed under waranty (line carriage). As far as I'm concerned I don't think you're gonna get a better reel for that price... As Ever, skillet
  11. ;)REALLY appreciate what it must have taken. Thanks for all your hard work and it's GREAT to be here... As Ever, skillet
  12. Just got in from grocery shopping and bought some milk, it's at least DOUBLED in price ($4 something a gallon ). At these prices I might not be sucking as much milk :'(... As Ever, skillet

  16. I use the palomar knot myself but if I could find a knot where I didn't have to go around and over it (like maybe a Devil's Horse) I would give it a try. One of the reasons I joined this Forum was to find out things. If you aren't open to change some things could get kind of stale. I asked for an answer to something I had never heard of and got an answer from someone who's opinion I respect. Very few things in life are written in stone ... As Ever, skillet
  17. I was still here when I saw you had answered. That was about all I needed to hear :'(. I was hopeing for something better because of what you said about it being easy to tie. Same thought I had. Heck, the Trilene Knot has better rating than that I think... As Ever, skillet
  18. RW "lures like ponds and often decide to stay" I really like that my friend . Can I use it the next my wife catches me in the baits aisle??? As Ever, skillet
  19. I was in a waiting room today and picked up a Field and Stream. Apparently they have a regular feature on knots. The one this month was called World's Fair Knot. Dupont (Stren manufacturer) had a contest for the 1982 World's Fair and this knot was the winner. It's kind of like the Palomar in that the line is doubled on the eye of the hook but simpler because you don't have to go around the bait or hook. Has any of you heard of this knot and is it worth trying? I thought I'd give it a go round... As Ever, skillet

Tried "clearing the cache" last night and it worked, then AOL (I know, I know I'm one of those folks that thinks a Claymore Mine would straighten things out too) kicked me off >:(and then it started doing the merry go round thing again. You're STUCK with me :'(! It would take more than the slowness issue and a few mistakes to get rid of me ;D... As Ever, skillet
  21. Was fishing a small pond using diving crank bait and walking it up the embankment. Had one about that size grab at the bait not once but twice (if it wasn't the same one, it was his twin brother). Thankfully the first a hook got the shell above his head and the second was in his mouth and he spit it out after landing him. Must be a lot faster in the water than on land . Didn't think they were that fast... As Ever, skillet
