POLARIZED SUNGLASSES
Depending on what you can spend or want to, check out Wal-Mart. I really do realize the more expensive del mars, oaklys and others are better and probably better for your eyes. I am really hard on sun glasses and the Solar Bats ($14.95) at Wal-Mart do work for me and I don't feel like if I sit on, step on, drop in water or lose them... As Ever, Skillet

New to Bassin
WELCOME to the forums!! Like almost everything (well, everything) in bass fishing hook size is personal opinion. I have caught really nice size fish on #2 EWG Gammi hooks but usually stay with #3 or #4. Maybe it's the timing of your hook set rather than size of hook... As Ever, Skillet

Whats your favorite Propbait?
Matt, I have a Dalton Special that I got a yard sale probably 20 yrs. ago. I just recently used clear polish to try and take care of cracks in the finish. I keep it in my tackle box and will use it (but not often) and if push comes to shove, I would go swimming for it ;D. I think it swings wider and farther than other walk-the-dog baits. At the same sale I bought a Devil's Horse that is almost 6" long (biggest I've ever seen), haven't used it for fear of scaring fish. Favorite would have to be Devil's Horse (not 6" one) and then smaller Spooks and Torpedos... As Ever, Skillet

Favorite Band
This question has come up before and every time I start thinking about it .......2hrs later I'm still sitting here with this burnt smell in the air, a flashing red light behind my eyes and a beeping sound between my ears with a mechanical sounding voice repeating "too much info. will not compute will not compute, total system shut down in 0-10 secs." Everything from Pink Floyd to Roy Orbinson, from John Prine to Hank Williams Sr., from Enya to Janice Joplin. Sure not much help as far as narrowing things down :-[... As Ever, Skillet

1st day as a stay-at-home dad
Ghoti and I have something in common besides bass. It's been at least 20 yrs. since I signed on as Mr. Mom. Sometimes it was hard but most of it, I had the time of my life. Getting to know my girls so well and watching them grow was worth more than anything. I learned to cook and can keep house as well as if not better than a lot of ladies. Voluntered for school trips and day trips as often as I could. My girls and all the rest of the kids (especially little boys) thought it was great to have a man around to play with ;D. You'll do great and be sure to have as much fun as you can with them. You will remember it always and so will they.... As Ever, Skillet

Got a mess of monster gills....
Down here in the South, anything that looks even close to that is called a bream. I know there has to be almost 1/2 dozen types that look similar, it's still a bream :-/. By any name they are all good eating! It's really been too long since I had a mess of them to fry up :'( As Ever, Skillet

Motorcycle accident!
Little old ladies in big sedans are the bane of existance for folks on scooters. I have heard an awful lot of wreck stories start with "there was this little old lady". Glad there were no broken bones. Road rash hurts like H**L for a while but not usually permanent! Hope the forks or frame aren't bent and she had insurance... As Ever, Skillet

anyone know their snakes
We have an in-ground pool that we put a cover on each Fall and if it rains there is a small pump for getting rid of the water. Starting in the early Spring (this year REALLY early) tree frogs gather and use it as a honeymoon suite, if we don't keep the cover dry . It is almost like an Alfred Hitchcock movie there are so many and they are so LOUD. The smaller ones make the most noise. Not only enough noise to wake the dead but then the dead would start complaining of headaches! About a week ago I noticed at least 3 greyish-light blue with a cream colored belly snakes (whatever you do, don't tell my wife The Only Good Snake Is A Dead Snake) about 2 to 2 1/2 foot long. About 2 or 3 days later, no tree frogs !! I hope they learn to come back every year. Long Mike, down around here there is a non-poisonous snake with a white stripe where it is yellow on the coral that everyone calls a milk snake. They are usually 18" to 2' and will even put up with being handled. Fishing from the bank like I do, I have had quite a few run-ins with cotton-mouths. I would definitely rather meet up with one on solid ground than in a boat! As Ever, Skillet

California Ladies
I know my memory skips a beat every now and then and my concentration wanders sometimes :-/, I can't for the life of me remember reading about smallmouths and CA. Maybe the largemouths get all the attention. I guess it goes to reason though rocky shore lines and bottoms, cold water and lots to eat. Good looking fish (and lady) especially the smally... Building a pond to hold Crappie and bluegill..Help
Actually you wouldn't believe how small some of the ponds are that I've fished and caught bass . The Wildlife Agency for your area would probably be your best bet. I think that kind of question needs a professional answer. A viable producing pond is not a small undertaking :-/... As Ever' Skillet

topwaters
Hello, my name is Skillet and I'm a top-water addict (well maybe just a bit obsessive :-/). Except in the coldest weather I'll at least give one a try. Sam covered things pretty well. Maybe simplify it a bit and say, quieter the surface of the water quieter the type bait maybe a Rapala original floating minnow. The more commotion on the surface the more commotion the bait needs to make maybe walk-the-dog type bait (Spook) up to baits with props (Devil's Horse). If the bass aren't aggresive enough for buzz-bait try pulling a spinner bait just enough below the surface to create a bulge in the water. I'll stop before it's not simple anymore (obsessive compulsive disorder kicking in). As Ever, Skillet

Single Willow Leaf
Thanks for the input guys. The sites were great. I went to an old tackle box that I keep for older, worn-out or things I don't use enough and put several baits together (had to buy skirts and a couple of blades). Would sure help the old self-esteem if they worked ... As Ever, Skillet

Only one baitcast rod & one spinning rod.
I own 3 set ups (2 bait casters 1 spinning) but most of the time only take 2 with me. That cuts down on the blood pressure spikes from fighting all the under growth when bank fishing ;D. Haven't had a chance to fish with the caliber of rods you are talking about (would sure like to). RW knows his rods pretty well and it sounds like he agrees with your choices. On an earlier post I think you mentioned a boron rod that a friend had given you, did you give it a try? If so, what did you think about it? I really liked the one I had ... As Ever, Skillet
