Maryland's Who's who!
Thanks, I fished the incoming tide, and then just the start of the ebb tide. I think it could have been an epic morning if I stayed, but my son was getting hot and hangry so we left just past 10AM.

Maryland's Who's who!
Got 5 this morning at Mattawoman after getting skunked there Saturday. White Keitech Noisy Flapper was the ticket today. Best of the 5:

Maryland's Who's who!
Anyone in or near Oxford? I’m here for a week renting a house on the water (S Morris St). Got into some white perch but hoping for some intel to maybe get into some specs.

MH rods that were actually more on the H side
The Aird-X 7’ H/F fishes more like a MH+ to me. Great rod for the $60 I paid for it as a back up frog rod.

Maryland's Who's who!
I scouted Triadelphia Lake last week, both the Greenbridge and Triadelphia recreations areas. The water looks great, but the launches looked pretty sketchy. Both have roads that are pretty much "one way" to the soft launch areas. I can see that being a clusterf*ck if not launching really early. There were a crap ton of recreational kayakers there at 11AM on a Friday. I'll probably give it a try on a weekday morning when I get a chance. Also hit up Mattawoman Saturday morning at 6AM with my oldest son. We left by 8AM, because it was high tide so I pushed into the pads to look for a frog/toad bite, except there were millions of bugs jumping on us and the boat. He couldn't take it anymore, and the water was muddy from the storms the night before, so we left before really hitting some of the better spots. It was only my second time out on the boat this year, the first time I went out with my youngest son and the motor wasn't peeing, so that trip was about 10 minutes long. Today, I went to Swain's at 10AM, and hiked down the towpath. I got 7 dinks on a popper, and lost a good one, I saw it and it was foul hooked on the gill plate and head and shook off at the bank. There's a new laydown at the rock pile on the towpath, but I hit it from several angles and didn't get any bites. I did notice several good 3-4lb largies guarding fry or on beds. Water temp must have been 80+, so I woulda thought the spawn was well over by now.

Why are you not using a digital reel?
I have two Curado DC's and enjoy them, but they definitely are just one of many tools in my bag. They don't handle lighter weight lures as well as my SV reels, or skip as well. Also, SV reels pitch better for me because I can really dial in the spool tension/braking where the lure barely overruns when hitting the water. The DC doesn't adjust as well in that situation because of low RPM speeds. So why I don't I use a DC reel all the time? Because it's not the right tool for every situation.

Anyone else hate super slick
Never had a problem with it using a 7 turn uni knot.

Show off your Stuff
Check the magnets to see if they're lined up. I bought one in great condition for an amazing price, and the magnets were not aligned. I wonder if the seller knew that, or didn't know and sold it because it wasn't braking properly

What’s your favorite finesse rod and reel?
Just got a BFS rod and reel combo: MajorCraft Benkei 6'5 UL paired with a Daiwa Alphas Finesse Custom with a borrowed Ray's DIY SV spool and I'm really liking it so much that I've been going for dinks/bluegills at my neighborhood pond over taking the boat out for LMB and snakeheads. I have 8lb Power Pro on it, and it can cast a true 1/24oz minospin with distance and accuracy, the rod is rated for 1/32oz but I don't have anything that light to throw, but I will try that when I get one.

Daiwa TATULA 6'10" MH/F Thoughts?
The 6'10 Tatula was my first casting rod when I started fishing from banks. It will do a good amount of presentations. I struggled to toss true 1/4oz lures, but that was when I had a Tatula Type-R on it...before I found a love for SV reels. I bank fish with a Tatula Elite 7' M/MH and Alphas SV105 now and it does even more, such as ned rigs. I'd say it will do everything you listed fine, except maybe the 1/4oz shallow cranks depending on what reel you put on it.

Daiwa TATULA 150 (New Handle Suggestions)
Which one did you get?

Dead sticking
Same, then I’ll reel in my rig and the plastic lure will be all mangled!

Daiwa TATULA 150 (New Handle Suggestions)
You can get a carbon fiber handle for $30 or so off Amazon that will take Daiwa knobs. I bought a few when they were $15ish. Haven’t seen them that low in a few months though (tariffs maybe).

Need reel for long casts (deep cranking)
Curado DC. It handles modern weight shifting lures very well.

Tatula SVTWS vs SS SV103
Presuming you're talking about the SS SV103, to compensate for the SS SV being overly braked, you can purchase an aftermarket inductor like this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/DAIWA-SV-Spool-Inductor-Rotor-for-Anti-Stuck-Conversion-kit-Professional-repair/112495342261?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 Or if you have another Daiwa reel with a thin inductor, like the Alphas SV105, you can swap them. Also the SS SV weighs 5.3oz and the Tatula is 6.7oz, it may not seem like a lot, but it depends on the rod you put it on to see how they balance. If you want a great caster right out of the box, get the Tatula SV TW103.

OK you've inspired me to go throw some frogs today on the canal.

Best use for 6'8" med/XF casting rod?
Weightless flukes too. Very versatile rod if you're not dealing with cover.

The latest sale thread
I've ordered 6 rods from Amazon that came in long square boxes that you would have thought UPS would have snapped the rod into many pieces. All arrived just fine. However, the two rods that came broken were in tubes, one from Cabela's and another from a member from another fishing site who had packed it seemingly perfectly. Go figure.

Maryland's Who's who!
Well, Harold was right. Widewater is ruined. I got there at 4PM with very good fishing conditions and arrived to see that it was crowded. Just as I crossed over the first walking bridge, the water was swarmed with kayak fisherman. Then when I got to the north lock walking bridge area, it was so crowded that I didn't have any room to cast. I managed to get one 1.4lb LMB, probably because everyone there was keeping the 5-7lbers, so the dinks are all that are left.

Senko Questions
You can "wacky" rig the senko with the 2/0 EWG too. When I first learned of the wacky senko a few years ago, that was the smallest hook I had and it worked out OK.

From their email, but no code is necessary. Add the item to your cart and then you will see the 20% off. Looks to work on most things including sale items, except for Megabass. Edit: Seems like you need to click through the email to get it to work.
