  1. A pack of Keitech's is cheaper than a 6 pack of IPA's that I could be drinking while sitting on the couch. Worth it.
  2. Daiwa BG 1500 is $63 at Amazon, backordered but I got it delivered in about 10 days.
  3. Hit Lake Needwood after kids' swim practice for an hour. Water was muddy, about 4-6" visibility, but the weather was great. I was hoping to get into some bedding bass, but didn't see much activity other than a couple bluegill here and there. Used a 4.3" green pumpkin Keitech Fat Impact rigged weedless and a wacky rigged purple senko and got nothing. Wonder where the spawning bass are. Lots of people fishing for the stocked trout.
  4. Mind sharing on what tackle? I'm heading up to NJ this weekend, figure I'll bring some senkos and maybe some spinnerbaits.
  5. Hi all, my mother in law lives in Mt. Laurel, she's right off Union Mill Road and Hartford Road. There's a little pond there, I've caught bluegills with my kids, nothing else though. Anyone know if has bass in there? https://goo.gl/maps/qHNwCEU1JcB2
  6. Some of them are 40% off, on top of the BOGO too, like the Flippin Hooks. I like their Swim Blade hooks, picked up 4 packs. Also they have the Megbass Orochi EMTF for $220, probably the old model. $20 off $100 through 4/22. Oh, they want $150 for shipping the rod...
  7. I've never had a problem with line twists that way, but I also run the line through a towel while pinching it hard after the guide, maybe that helps prevent it a little. I'm a noob though so I've probably been doing it wrong the whole time after watching the video below. Learn something new everyday!
  8. Here's a 100% accurate real depiction of what my Powell Max 3D 734CEF with 30lb high viz Power Pro Slick8 braid looked like when I spooled it.
  9. I put the line through the first guide (closest to the reel), then I position the box straight under so when I'm spooling it's going straight up to the guide and doesn't clip the divots. I think we're talking about the same thing, re: divots on the plastic spool.
  10. I use an empty shoe box, stick 2 holes in the sides, then I take a kabob skewer, put it through the spool and the shoe box holes. I turn the box so that it comes off the spool counter clock wise.
  11. There's a 4'6 1 piece ultralight btw, not all 2 pieces. Very tempted to buy that.
  12. Garmin Striker 7sv is $399 at Academy, and there's a 20% coupon to make it $320. Amazing price for a 7" with SideVu.
  13. Let me know if you want to go April 29th, maybe get there around 7AM, fish until 11, then grab a sandwich and beer! I can hit my neighborhood pond and get some blue gills to live line too. Good to know, I definitely plan to steer away from the main river and stick to the side creeks with my 14'er.
  14. [Bait Monkey] You need those 130's for breaking stripers though....
  15. I just got into fishing last April, so this was my first winter not fishing...and I went a little stir crazy. I would literally stare at my tackle every night thinking what I was going to fish as soon as the weather cooperated. I have an addictive personality...before fishing, it was hardcore video games (until I had kids). So I just did it a little at a time, and actually learned more about my fishing habits as I did it...I clearly like Chatterbaits and Keitechs over everything else, and see a huge gap for crankbaits and jigs, which are probably a huge missed opportunity to catch fish. So for 2018 I'm going to commit more to jig fishing by converting my Powell Max3D spinning rod for jigs only.
  16. I can barely remember what I had for dinner last night...so I have to use spreadsheet to track it all...
  17. It can be good when the tide is moving, spinner baits along the edge wall, crankbaits around the inflow/outflows. I've caught decent smallies, LMB, dink stripers, seen some SH in the summer coming up for air too. You should do it before it gets really hot and schools get out for the summer, then it gets crazy busy. It's really picturesque and there are some nice pubs you can walk to afterwards. I take my dad on that excursion and the beer and food we share afterwards is always the best part.
  18. Whopper Plopper 90/110/130's are $9.99 at Academy with free shipping. Limited colors, but good ones. https://www.academy.com/shop/browse/outdoors/fishing/baits--lures/hard-baits?facet=mfName_ntk_cs%3A%22River2Sea%22 Get an additional 20% (see Kayakfish107's post on the next page) to bring them down to $7.99 each!
  19. What's expected of the co-angler typically? Gas money and launch fee? I bought a used 14' bass boat and want to learn the Potomac, and figure co-angling is probably the best way...as I have no idea since I've only fished from the shore along Ft. Washington and the Tidal Basin.
  20. So, this winter I didn't get out to fish much, and while I was going through my fishing stuff, I decided to take a full inventory of what I had and updated my spreadsheet to include most of my tackle. It also gave me a good perspective on what I've purchased since April 2017 and has helped beat back the bait monkey...a little. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1cVXbiZrhqnf2Q2RIvJdyjd-dnj7pjkCSJ0R5rzpLyII/edit?usp=sharing
  21. I would guess it has to do with inventory management integration with Bass Pro Shops. You should actually be thanking them, they knocked the bait monkey off your back for you!
  22. TW customer service is pretty responsive to questions, maybe ask them or email mustad USA to see if they are discontinued, or maybe there's just a delay in the supply chain. (info@mustad-americas.com)
  23. I love in-line spinners, I like the Mepps XD as well for a little thumping action. I throw them on a 6'6 ML/R spinning rod with size 2000 reel on 6lb fluorokote.
  24. The problem with TW reviews is that, anyone can comment on an item, even if they have not purchased it. A competitor can hire troll farms to post negative reviews on products, or even direct their own marketing team to do so. Amazon at least adds a purchase verification to differentiate reviews, although there are still ways to circumvent that. Sometimes you can weed out fake reviews, such as how most fishermen know they'll never straighten out a split ring just from the momentum of a backlash. And the more detail in a review, obviously the better and more reliable. I bought 2 of these Booyahs, and I have 2 Teckels...can't wait for the pads to come up in my area to use them both, and hopefully as the weather warms we'll get more reliable feedback on this forum.
  25. PB Stroller 25lber? I managed to get out to Whetstone for an hour before kid's soccer game, caught 2 real quick in the same general area. One short, but heavy LMB, guessing a female with eggs, and the other a small dink...lost a jackhammer chatterbait though, so that's a fail.
