Question...Which normal priced setup casts farther ? Spin or bait ?
I like baitcasters for raw distance, mostly because it doesn't hurt my fingers when releasing the line. On a spinning reel, I'm holding the line with my index finger, and when I fling a lure out, there is abrasion on my index finger skin and the line, which starts to hurt over time.

Top water rod thought please
Where can I get this rod, with a slightly short rod butt???? (I hate when popping and longer rod butts slam into my wrist or forearm).

Help with my finesse reel/line
Was there a specific lure you were throwing? Or was it random? I rig my TRD's with no leader, and after a couple hours of throwing them I have to pinch my line to get line twists out because the TRD twirls so much during my casts.

Help with my finesse reel/line
That...I have 8lb KastKing Fluorokote on my Pflueger 30X, and I've had zero problems with it.

Yeah, I'm thinking my boat will be too small for the main body and I'd have to stick to the small fingers. I may just hire a guide when I'm there.

new rods and reel you like
My newest rod is always my favorite rod at the moment. So last week it was a brand new 6' Cabela's XML spinning rod that I was flinging 1/16oz Ned Rigs and TRD's on and getting numbers on at a highly pressured lake, then I broke it. Now it's my Megabass Orochi EMTF throwing 4.8" Keitech's with 1/8oz Trokar Swim Blades. Heard nothing but great things about the Dobyns Champ XP's. Based on what I've read, their taper is a little more moderate than stated, and I'm very interested in that. I'll probably pick up one eventually.

Oooh, I'm going there in August, it looks like a huuuuuge lake. Wondering if I should trailer my 14' 86 Bomber up there to fish with my kids.

The Fuego CT on the water
I run one with 12lb FC Sniper for spinnerbaits, it does just fine, spools nice and even.

Mend it vs gorilla glue
Be careful with Mend-it and some baits, I've tried it with Z-Man TRD's and it melts the plastic. I keep a bottle of Lock-tite gel for Z-Man plastics as well. Dries hard, but it's something I can deal with.

If you don't like the Villain baitcaster, let me know.

Good back of yak cooler?
If you belong to Costco, they have a semi-rigid 16-can cooler for like $15. It's decent for a day trip, I take it to the beach and ice will last most of the day. https://www.costco.com/Titan-16-Can-Soft-Side-Cooler.product.100413819.html

Style of hook recommendation for 4.8 Keitech
I've been using the Trokar Swim Blades in 3/0 1/8oz with 4.3-4.8" Swing Impact Fat and my hook up ratio is really high. I feel like the super wide gap is necessary because of the girth of the Keitech's body. I bought a bunch when Dick's had them on sale.

Deciding between these rods for t-rig worms/creature baits
Got the 7'3 MHF Zillion for ALF for $155, loving it so far. I use it for my 3/8-1/2 oz chatter baits and it will fling them a country mile. Lifetime warranty to boot. I'm about to pull the trigger for the 7'4 MHR.

Towing boat need opinion.
Yeah essentially the same concept, the one I linked is a one piece ball mount, and it has a couple more inches of adjust-ability. You have to gauge how much upward + you'll need. But I have the one I linked and it's rock solid. Good luck!

Can you use an adjustable ball mount like this one: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B004SMGAJ6/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Give yourself enough clearance, then when you're on a flat surface, put down your tongue jack and re-adjust the mount to be level.

A Day of Firsts
So today was a day of firsts for me. 1) My first broken rod. I had just gotten the Cabela's XML spinning rod 6' L/F last week. I had fished with it once for crappie and loved it. I was off to fish for LMB and brought it along just in case the bass weren't biting. As I was folding down my back seats, the line must have caught on part of the headrest and snapped it down. *CRACK*....I'll never forget that noise. Luckily, it's a Cabela's rod and has the lifetime warranty. 2) Caught my first fish on the most expensive rod in my arsenal, something my wife got me for X-mas. A pre 2018 Megabass Orochi XX EMTF. I'm loving this rod for Keitech swimbaits. Can't wait to throw this more tomorrow. 3) First ribs of the year on the smoker! Who knows what tomorrow will bring!

Do You Eat Your Bass?
Yeah they are all over the Potomac tributaries. If you're fishing for bass in the weeds, you'll eventually catch one. You don't HAVE to kill them: https://www.dgif.virginia.gov/fishing/snakehead/

Rod & Reel setup for small-med swimbaits and flipping?
It's ML/R, not ML/F and it's listed as the 8-14lb Black model in the drop down size list. I use this for my poppers and jerkbaits. Tip and rod length are fine, the only thing I would change is the butt size. It's just a tad too long for my taste and hits my forearm when I'm popping/jerking downward.

Rod & Reel setup for small-med swimbaits and flipping?
I own 3 Tatula's, all but one came from Amazon and were far below the MSRP of $149.99 that you'll find at retail sites. Some people have complained about the shipping packaging that Amazon does, and while not the greatest, none of mine came broken. Not much risk, as Amazon returns are free if they do get damaged. The 6'9 ML/F is a mega bargain at $71 (backordered though).

Getting wet again...
Hey Eric - I was in the same boat last April, I found a renewed interest in angling again, and it had changed so much since I was a teenager. At first it was very overwhelming, but BR has a lot of great members to help you catch up, and good honest advice for tackle and gear. I use www.imgur.com to upload pictures, then when you're done editing or saving, in the top right corner of the picture there should be an option for "get shareable links", click that then hit the copy BBCode button and paste here. You should end up with something like [ img ] http:.... [ /img ]
