Non boater ethics??
Just start your sentence like Ricky Bobby, "With all due respect,.." and whatever you say after that is all good. For example, "With all due respect, thanks for checking out the spot I mentioned, but I mean to fish THAT cover over there, you dumb dumb...it should be obvious."

Ebay has $100 Cabela's Giftcards for $80, just search for Cabelas 100 and it's the 3rd or 4th one down, limit 3 per household.

Moderate Vs. Fast Action
I don't fish squarebills, but that's probably next on my list of techniques to try. But from what I've read, isn't a slow tip suppose to give better deflection so that the hooks don't dig into cover and hang up? The blank absorbs the hit with cover, and aren't you suppose to stop and let the lure rise a little before starting retrieval again? A fast tip would immediately whip the hooks into cover as the blank straightens out yeah?

Daiwa Tatula Type R vs CT Type R
Bingo - same experience, 3 tats...2 originals, 1 CT, the CT is "geary" after 2 seasons of use, and even after a professional deep clean. I started going with the SV TW which doesn't cast as far, but is super quiet and smooth.

Securing items in boat lockers
OK I see what you're saying. If I were to do that, should I put some rubber grommets around the screws? Noob questions - I put the disclaimer in my first post. Edit: Looked at the price of PVC board or marine board....they are not cheap!

Securing items in boat lockers
Pic didn't work, but what you describe is what I was thinking. Yes, I'm very scared to drill anchors into the hull and will go with this method. I'm thinking PVC board, and using some foam noodles around the edges to give some more cushion as the cutouts will butt up against the gunnel walls.

This is the listing I purchased from: https://www.ebay.com/itm/273130252672?ViewItem=&item=273130252672&ppid=PPX000608&cnac=US&rsta=en_US(en_US)&cust=0K728989F8632263G&unptid=66196a46-31d2-11e8-8244-d4856454d6a8&t=&cal=7d5544665aa42&calc=7d5544665aa42&calf=7d5544665aa42&unp_tpcid=email-receipt-auction-payment&page=main:email&pgrp=main:email&e=op&mchn=em&s=ci&mail=sys Seller has been a member since May 2013, and 39 out of 49 star rating, 100% positive feedback. Not a slam dunk profile, but for $35, it's a worthy gamble.

Are they shipped from New Zealand from a seller with little to no ratings? I recall some auctions like that....and most likely they are bogus. Edit: Found the listing, it looks legit, left handed. I ordered one for my dad.

Securing items in boat lockers
Yeah, I'm just trying to figure out the best/easiest way to secure....with straps, I'll need to drill anchors into the hull right? Kinda scared to do that....

Securing items in boat lockers
So you cut the plastic wood to the size/shape of the compartment area floor perimeter, so when the gas/batteries are strapped to anchors on it, the plastic wood doesn't move around either correct? Sure, send your buddy my way please. Thanks!

Securing items in boat lockers
Hi, I just bought my first used bass boat and have a lot of noob questions. The boat has two batteries and two gas containers in the storage locker by the transom. It's pretty roomy and there's enough space that I can envision them sliding when trailering. The batteries are pretty heavy, and the gas tanks would be too when full, but is the best way to install some kind of tie down and keep them secure that way?

Garmin EchoMap Chirp 73cv vs Striker 7cv
Hmm...since Echomap 73cv has the contour stuff, if I wanted SideVu, I could just get a Striker 5/7sv (non plus), yeah? If I went that route, which would you put on the bow and which on the console? I'm just guessing that the SideVu would probably go on the console, and the contour on the bow...don't know though since I've never really fished with electronics like this before.

Garmin EchoMap Chirp 73cv vs Striker 7cv
Was about to, but it's sold out. Ended up getting the 73cv. I'll eventually need 2 units, so I guess I'll put the 73cv on the bow, and maybe get a SideVu for the console later.

Garmin EchoMap Chirp 73cv vs Striker 7cv
I recently just bought a used 14' bass boat and it is in dire need of upgraded electronics, it came with 2 fish finders but they are just pixels in black and white. This is my first boat, and my first venture into marine electronics, so I apologize in advance for any noob questions. The Striker is on sale for $300, and the EchoMap is $400. It seems like the difference between the two is that the EchoMap has ClearVu, comes pre-loaded with lake maps, and can do countour drawings for $100 more. Is ClearVu that much better than what is on the Striker? Are those features worth the $100? It seems like Garmin is clearing out these models for the Plus versions, which seem to just add wireless capability and compatibility with a phone app, is that right? The Echomap Chirp 73sv is $500...$100 more for SideVu. Does SideVu only show side structure, not fish correct? The boat I bought is mainly intended for recreational fishing with my 2 boys, and maybe some semi-serious fishing outtings with some buddies from time to time.

Favorite Underspins and Trailers
These are my favorite, Venom Lure Slingblades 3/8 Gold Colorado blade with a 4.3" Keitech Swing Fat Impact. I can slow roll it and both the blade and paddle tail have great action. I've only had 1 issue and that was when I got a bit hit this summer, the blade came off from the wire loop. Dave (owner?) at Venom Lures took care of it promptly, I sent him a picture of the Slingblade, and tacklewarehouse receipt and he mailed me a new blade and got it 4 days later. I have other variations of underspins (Roadrunner, Owner, Trokar, Coolbaits Down Under, Trokar Swim Blade), but I like the Venom Slingblade the best, mostly because of the weedless factor and how many options it comes in (weight, blade color & type, and body color and type).
