  1. I take extremely good care of my tools, reels in the case. They are cleaned and maintained, always covered when not in use. That said, I don’t buy tools to sit on the shelf. But, as always, to each his or her own.
  2. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!
  3. While I do own a boat with a small motor, I have definitely simplified. Make no secret about it, I am a Thoreau fan in some aspects, read everything of his that I could find. I haven’t gotten to the point of naming our furniture yet. What about you @Swamp Girl, you started naming your chairs yet? No longer own a big bass boat, no longer own almost 35 rods and reels and no longer own enough tackle to fill a small bedroom. Sold and/or gave it away. Currently down to 10 rods for bass fishing, four for panfishing. Toying with the idea of reducing that number even further. Have only the tackle that I’ll use. Bought a used 16’ X 50” locally built jon boat that was actually designed for duck hunting. Gutted it and turned it into a bass-jon. She does have a 2 stroke, 40 h/p Tohatsu outboard. While she does have two Garmin down scan units and a 45 lb thrust Minn Kota, there is and never will be FFS on my boat. She has room for six rods in the locker and some tackle storage. For convenience, I did install a Power Pole Micro unit. All of that said, if I don’t start fishing more often, I’m going to sell her. ”simplify, simplify, simplify”
  4. It’s your money, purchase what you want but you’ll not find a better cranking rod than a BPS Crankin’ Stick. As far as one rod for all depths and crankbaits, I’m not sure that even exists. I have two Crankin’ Sticks. A 7’ medium (my workhorse) and a 7’ M/H for deep divers. I’m a shallow water guy so deep to me is 10’ to maybe 15’.
  5. I don’t think that you’ll regret it. Save your receipt, I tape mine inside the box. If there is an issue, BPS will swap it out or give you your money back for the first year no questions asked. At least that’s how it was when I worked there.
  6. Sorry @Falkus, I’m just seeing this. I used to work at BPS. You really can’t go wrong with either one. All I use are the Platinum Series rods and reels, both baitcasters and spinning. Been using them since they were released with zero issues…….none. I’m originally from East Tennessee, the Johnny Morris Signature Series baitcasters are huge back home. There’s not much difference between the two. I think the Platinum Series reels are a little lighter by about an ounce. I know the Signature Series baitcasters come in more sizes. I’ll never use anything else. Edit, I forgot to mention that both the JM Signature Series and Platinum Series spinning reels are made by Diawa.
  7. Stunning Katy, simply stunning. Steve
  8. @Kirtley Howe is 100% correct, always listen to your gut! Way, way back in 1978 when I started my LEO career, I had an old timer tell me “When the hair on the back of your neck stands up, there’s a reason. Pay attention to it.” That advice served me well for over thirty years. Still does to this day. If I tell my beautiful wife to walk on the other side of me or to wait a minute before getting out of the vehicle, she doesn’t question it.
  9. Katy, You are not an outlier, you’re in the majority. To be honest, anyone who tells you that they know exactly where the bass are and what they’ll be hitting is simply guessing. Seasonal patterns play a role, but if FFS has taught us anything, it’s that we as anglers don’t know half as much as we thought we knew. That said, I’ll still never have FFS on my boat.
  10. I don’t blame anyone for jumping off of that ship.
  11. Happens to me from time to time. No big deal, my posts have always gone through.
  12. Like @T-Billy, I gave up on pro football when the kneeling started. Haven’t missed it at all. Probably going to give up on college football with all of this nil b/s. Those guys were already getting paid, it’s called a scholarship. In my opinion, if they’re going to get paid, they can pay their own way in school. Give those scholarships to the folks that need them. Edit, @Glenn, You are 100% correct concerning the nba and mlb. I’ve never watched the nba, gave up on mlb.
  13. Just like when I was in the military, Brass-o.
  14. Another great article Katie! I absolutely love reading your stuff. This one put into mind the old saying, “if ya know, ya know.” We’ve all been there when a buddy has caught a “good‘un” as we say in the south. Fortunately we’ve all experienced catching one too. The sounds, the smells, they all can be experienced looking at photos. Like I’ve mentioned before, puts me in mind of the quote attributed to Henry David Thoreau, “Many men fish all of their lives without knowing it’s not the fish they are after.” When I look at some of my old photos of past trips, they take me back to that particular day spent on the water with a friend. Some of those friends have sadly gone on to their reward, some are still around. Great memories. Thank you Katie
  15. I keep a bottle of The McCallan 18 but rarely drink anymore. Like @Darth-Baiter, might have four or five drinks a year. So far this year I’ve had two or three beers, 0 scotch.
  16. What was the entry fee?
  17. DQ

You are 100% correct, different words different definitions. Randy didn’t get caught cheating at all, like you basically said, a simple rules violation.
  18. I’m so sorry Kevin. We’ve all been there and it’s not easy. RIP Georgia. If you run into a walker hound named Homer or a couple of beagles named Alice and Rudy, play with them. They’re all three a blast. Please tell them that their pop still misses them dearly.
  19. SpotLock, probably as the boats not going to drift off target much. FFS, we’ll never know as I won’t have it on my boat. Bag of chips, I agree with @Swamp Girl. Just a small bag though.
  20. DQ

@Logan S, I agree with you, he simply broke a rule. That’s not cheating in every circumstance. What I don’t get is him saying he unaware of the rule one day and the next day he’s saying he forgot about it. He forgot about a rule that he was wasn’t aware of? I checked this morning, looks like someone has been deleting a bunch of comments.
  21. DQ

First off, Randy made the top 25 cut. Apparently in the Toyota Series you’re not allowed to talk to people below the cut after the weigh in. I wouldn’t know as I refuse to have anything to do with mlf. I digress, Randy spoke to a buddy that didn’t make the top 25 cut after the weigh in and it was reported. The tournament director DQ’d him the next day. Yesterday, in his video announcing the DQ Randy said that he was unaware of the rule. Seems that Todd Castledine called him out on the DQ and Randy felt compelled to do a rebuttal video today. That’s when he said that he forgot about the rule. Folks are roasting him on his own YouTube channel for forgetting a rule that he was unaware of.
