Different styles of bait
I suspect that brand and slight variation within lure category and terminal tackle is the norm for most fisherman here on BR, and the bait industry is thankful for it.

Who sells/makes the best line cutter?
I do not know if they are the best, but I use a Boomerang Tool. It has lasted at least 2 years and is still going strong.

Transom Straps
Boatbuckle it is. Thanks for all the input.

Transom Straps
I bought cheap and wasted my money. I bought the retracting type that bolt to the trailer. Both of them stopped retracting and squatting down to ratchet them disagrees with my knees. What brand do you guys use? I am looking for the ratcheting type with a hook on each end. Thank you in advance.

Good but reasonably priced polarized glasses?
Thank you. I never knew about this site. I have a new pair of sunglasses on the way.

What do you do when you have about a half spool left?
Even better. When I get done using old braid, I will get that. It looks like it is basically even cheaper braid.

What do you do when you have about a half spool left?
I have started a process going forward where I am putting cheap 40# braid as backing on all my reels. I like having a full spool with reasonably fresh line, and it feels like such a waste to throw away so much line that never touches the water because it is at the bottom of the spool. Once done, I can imagine the braid backing lasting the life of the reel.

Mono vs FC, salt strong
Salt strong did another test that dismisses the common belief that mono floats. https://www.saltstrong.com/articles/fluorocarbon-monofilament-sink-float-test/

Casting or spinning gear for plastics rod?
I can not skip a baitcaster so 90% of the time I tie on plastics to MH or M spinning gear. The other 10% of the time, I want to tie on a third plastic, but I generally only bring 2 spinning rods.

Fishing gear you think is worth the price, or not..?
I have come to believe that Gammy and Owner hooks are worth the extra money. They seem sharper. Their points seem to hold up longer. Last but not least, I feel like they have better barbs that hold on to the fish better, particularly Owner.

What was your dream career?
When I was 14 I thought I wanted to fly an F15. Then I grew too tall and my eye sight went to crap.

I am sorry for your loss, Tom. I can not imagine what you are going through right now.

FG Knot Tool
It might be the operator, but those wraps do not look that good to me. I'm sure it will work just fine especially with the heavy gauge line he was using, but the wraps do not look perfectly uniform to me. I know it is personal vanity, but part of the reason I use the FG knot is because how pretty it is.

Bass fishing confessions
I launched my boat this year and forgot to put the plug in. The run to fetch my truck and trailer was the fastest I have moved in a decade or more.

What is the biggest danger a bass boater faces?
Wife wrath because of the boat owner spending too much time on the water.

Bass Pro Shops Johnny Morris CarbonLite 2.0 Baitcast Reel
In reading the description, I think you are correct. I initially searched the website for “Johnny Morris Signature Series” and a page loaded with all the “Johnny Morris” named rod and reels. Not reading carefully I assumed they were all Signature Series when in fact it is a specific spinning reel ($100) and baitcaster ($160). The rods are listed for $150. It is still generous funding raising, but significantly more expensive. https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/johnny-morris-fishing-rods-and-reels?searchTerm=Johnny+Morris+Signature+Series&krypto=t1KcFe6jk%2Fqt9ZgIZzm6G5hNiQ9z9eowtIn2q78XYeP%2BkpHdkN8fWrnJfsNcBbjybl8zaw6gv1lX8AjON7iic9%2FF%2FS0uiJJy6MojaYkO%2Bfw%3D

Bass Pro Shops Johnny Morris CarbonLite 2.0 Baitcast Reel
Does anyone have any experience with this reel? Johnny Morris pledged to donate $100 for every Johnny Morris Signature Series rod or reel purchase helping Anglers for the Bahamas to raise $4 million and growing for hurricane relief. If he is going to donate $100 of the $120 I spend on this reel to people in need, I can not help but be compelled to buy one if it is any good. https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/bahamasrelief

What is this creature?
My wife was surfing the Facebook group “I just know I’ll die trying to pet something I shouldn’t” and came across this image. The thing is about six inches long and has a mouth. It was caught on a worm near Yuma Arizona. Anyone know what it is?

2000 or 3000 reel for finesse fishing
3000 is my preferred. It’s heavier but the larger diameter spool gives me fewer line issues.

What do bass taste like?
I fall in the category of bass fisherman that has no problem letting people harvest fish that are fishing with me. They are welcome to take home my limit as well as their own. I insist that anything about 3 pounds or more go back in the water for the tournament guys. Although I like eating bass, I personally only harvest terminally hooked fish which happens. In that instance, I do this except with bass fillets. Descaling is too much work and messy.

How many techniques did you start with?
I soaked bait for catfish and stripped bass as a kid, but I didn't start fishing for black bass until I was an adult with a steady income. Technically, I started fishing for black bass with a pack of EWG hooks, a pack of black and blue Senkos, and a pack of green pumpkin Yum Dingers with chartreuse tails. I remember thinking to myself how ingenious it was that Yum Dingers had a built in slot to texpose your hook. Immediately after about a 1.5 pounder stretched my line for the first time, the Bait Monkey had his way with me. I started buying some of everything.

AAARRGG! Connection knot!

SwingHead Jigs
I am new to this technique. However, I go with a the one made by Big Bite Baits for what it is worth. It has a Gamy hook, but still manages to be the cheapest one on TW that I could find last time I looked. As to what to pair it with and how to retrieve it, I am still trying to figure that part out.
