  1. Norman Fat Boy is VERY comparable to the Square A. I caught my PB on a Fat Boy, bluegill pattern. 8-)
  2. Too cool!
  3. Yep...At your pricing point the best deal will be a combination from a major retailer, ON SALE. Be patient. They rotate their sale items, but it's all on sale at one time or another. 8-)
  4. But does that automatically make it "the best way" under all circumstances? That was not my point. The action of the Senko and Fat Ika is what make them interesting. Profile is important, also, but to a lesser extent. Adding a weight distorts the uniqueness of these baits. When I need a weight, I fish something different. 8-)
  5. I have been on a bit of a binge in recent months, buying a few rods and reels that I don't need! The Bait Monkey disagrees, he claims. "If you want it, you need it." Anyhow, all my major purchases have been made through the Flea Market with other BassResource.com members. I think (hope) they have been as happy with their sales as I have been with my purchases. Prices paid have generally been 50-60% of retail and I have had just one issue which was resolved quickly. Before you go somewhere else, check the Flea Market frequently. Step two is working with our sponsors directly or buying their gear at your favorite retailer. Please post comments, too. I know all of our advertisers appreciate hearing from us. p.s. Special thanks to Bantam1 who helped both me and a seller get out of a pickle. Good luck! -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior 8-)
  6. Hmm... I have been fishing Senkos since 1997. I have never used a weight. I don't ever fish them wacky either. My rig is a traditional weightless, weedless presentation using spinning gear and light line. I fish them in water <12' deep. If I fish deeper or need a weight due to current, I fish something else. 8-)
  7. Outstanding! That first fish is a pig
  8. Woo-Hoo! Great pic! 8-)

  10. Hmm... Seems like the perfect answer to me. 8-)

  12. The only lures that are not suitable for ponds are those you don't want to lose! Diving crankbaits are a perfect example. 8-)
  13. I'm inspired by this thread... Saturday night is going to be Bogy Night: Casablanca Key Largo African Queen 8-)

  16. This rod and reel are offered in our Flea Market. If you can negotiate a slightly better price or find another $25, these would make an exceptional rig within your budget: The rod: G. Loomis MBR 782C IMX 6'6" Got this rod in February. It's in excellent condition. It was bought for $240 back in February. It's very versatile. I used it for jerkbaits in the colder months and topwater in the warmer. Just slayed them at Guntersville on a spook with this rod. It's also great for small cranks and light jigs. Asking $175, includes shipping. And the reel: Citica 200E Like new... Asking $100 shipped with ups tracking and insurance! 8-)

  18. Well, the original question was just most "fish". If you want to count white bass, you can catch a fish or at least get bit on every cast until you run out of bait! Mid March through the middle of April, white bass gather to spawn on the Tennessee River. The exact spot is important, but once you find them, anchor down and grab a beer! The fish can be caught on any traditional white bass lure, white grubs are the obvious choice. However, this is the kind of fishing where you want to take people who don't fish much or catch anything when they do, especially kids. Baby crawdads are the ticket...GUARANTEED! We rig light or ultralight tackle with a small hook, slip weight above a swivel (light weight C-rig, unpegged). Cast out, retrieve slowly. The limit here has been reduced to 15, so be sure you count carefully. You can catch all you want, but the kept limit is strictly enforced. 8-)

  24. Lake Erie, St. Clair or Champlain are all "notable" for both numbers and size. You will need a guide and the time of year is very important. 8-)
