  1. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  2. If your question is about reels, get two Shimano Symetre 2500FJ. If your question is about combinations, I would look for the Power and Action you want in any house brand rod, matched to the Symetre and on sale! (Be patient, house brand combinations are always on sale). If you are asking about rods, for the lower priced selection, I would look at house brands (on sale). For $150 you might find a deal on a St. Croix Avid, but full bore retail is a little higher. For "all around" rods, I would suggest 6 1/2' or 7' Medium Power/ Fast Action. However, a better choice is one M/F for jigs and soft plastics (single hooks) and one Medium Power/ Moderate Action for treble hook lures. The higher priced rod should be for jigs and soft plastics. Almost anything with a soft tip works for treble hooks. 8-)
  3. You should have returned the FJ for exchange.
  4. The Shimano Symetre 2500FJ has been significantly improved verses previous models: http://fish.shimano.com/publish/content/global_fish/en/us/index/products/reels/spinning/Symetre_FI.html 8-)
  5. Very nice! Pics are cool, too. It looks like you're in the jungle. 8-)
  6. Let the record speak for itself: 18 career wins One win last year (yellow flag finish) breaking a 76 race losing streak. No wins this year. How "special" is that?
  7. Man, those fat girls rock! Great fish, great pics! 8-)
  8. Well, let us know how things work out. I think we have had enough bashing for this round. Good night Irene. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator
  9. NASCAR would be much better off just getting rid of "A Clear and Present Danger." Junior is a wreck waiting to happen. A poor driver with terrible judgement, and an attitude driven by me, Me, ME! Taking out the leaders a few weeks ago while "racing" for the Lucky Dog was the last straw for me. No suspension, fine or official criticism from NASCAR. There are other issues I have with NASCAR, but after that incident, I really lost a lot of passion for the sport. >
  10. For "general" depth, the length of the lip is very indicative, but not for specific depth. Most labeling is pretty close. Otherwise, you will need to test and mark lures on your own. 8-)
  11. Reel more slowly and use a finger or thumb to guide the line to the very edge of either side of the spool. Don't wait until a bump becomes obvious, start from the get-go for even spooling. 8-)
  12. Isn't it interesting how that 10:00 - 2:00 slot works out? 8-)
  13. It hardly costs a thing to test Yo-Zuri Hybrid. If you don't like it, throw it away and respool. If you do decide to give the Hybrid a try, buy #6 (.010" diameter, 11.9 lb test). DO NOT put #10 on spinning tackle. I also recommend KVD Line & Lure Conditioner for all lines.

  16. Well, this kind of highlights the way a lot of people view Quantum: Disposable Reels. :
  17. Hmm... I am always ready. When not fishing, I'm "fixin' to go!" 8-)
  18. Well now, it's like two different views which are both right! "I say the glass is half full, you say it's half empty." As a long time GYCB fan, I find Rage Tail plastics to be extremely durable. In fact, I would prefer a softer plastic with the same bait designs. :
  19. Simple solution: Leave your soft plastics in their original bags and carry them in either a worm case or just Plano boxes. The original bags store easily and GYCB plastic bags are virtually indestructible. 8-)
  20. Nice fish, great pic! 8-)
  21. Man, those are some nice smallies. The one's you are holding look bigger than 3 lbs. Great post! 8-)
  22. Too cool! Nice fish. 8-)
  23. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  24. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  25. See if Academy has a combination, on sale, that includes a Shimano Symetre 2500FJ. 8-)
