  1. I think this statement covers a lot of ground and is applicable to other activities. Practice, time on the water and desire certainly improve an anglers success, but even dedicated training under another professional will not result in becoming a successful pro. "Natural talent" is as much a part of professional fishing as it is for any other sport. 8-)
  2. Ooooh grasshopper... The road is long and winding. I see more lures in your future. 8-)

  4. I generally prefer 7' rods, but for working jerkbaits and topwater, 6' 6" seems perfect. My rod is a St. Croix Avid AVC66MF with a soft tip. 8-)
  5. I'm with Raul. I'm not willing to concede anything to lure "failure". Most lures can be retreieved, but losing a few is part of the game. 8-)
  6. Nice fish, great report. Thank you, I would sure like to get over there sometime. 8-)
  7. Thanks for the report! I would like to get down there someday. 8-)
  8. Nice fish, great pics! 8-)
  9. Everyone's going to die someday. :
  10. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  11. Well, since it would be hard for any SEC fan to root for the Big Twelve or any of its THREE representatives, you're welcome to jump on the Memphis Tiger's bandwagon. There's plenty of room and you will always be on the side of the underdog! 8-)
  12. I was there two years ago and fished my standards without issues: Spinning tackle: Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft #6 Baitcasting: original formula or Ultra Soft #12 8-)
  13. 3/8 oz Cavitron, Black on Black 8-)
  14. To put it in perspective, think of somethig bigger than the spandex girls at Wal-Mart. ;D ;D ;D

  16. That's better advice than mine...Changing line might help, but there has to be another problem.
  17. I hope you did well, too! 8-)
  18. Throw away the line and buy P-Line CXX #6, Gamma #8 or Yo-Zuri Hybrid #6 (original formula or Ultra Soft). Set you drag at 2.5 lbs, measured with a scale or by puting a 2.5 lb weight in a plastic grocery bag. Spool your line and tie the bag on. GENTLY lift the weight off the floor and adjust the drag to where it just barely releases. You should never have your line broken by a 1 1/2 lb fish. 8-)

  20. Woo-Hoo! You're going to have a great time, livin' large! 8-)
  21. No and when I see posts by Raul, T-rig, The_Natural, Jimzee, Alpster and others, I feel like I'm just starting out! Although I'm probably pretty close to what I "need", it's not very close to what I "want". I hope Megabass NEVER offers a warranty on their rods! 8-)
  22. No issues here either. 8-)
  23. Welcome aboard! I fish most soft plastics on spinning tackle (7' MF) and spool up Yo-Zuri Hybrid or Hybrid Ultra Soft #6 (.010" diameter, 11.9 lb test). I REALLY think your line selection is important for finesse fishing. For heavier, weighted presentations and jigs, I fish 7' HF baitcasting equipment. I think your current gear will be fine for treble hooks and "moving" lures, but you need to step up and get the best you can afford to fish plastics and jigs. 8-)
  24. I have had some luck recently with the Sworming Hornet/ Lake Fork Trophy Lures "Live" Magic Shad. 8-)
