  1. Well, I agree, but here's the upside: My daughter and a lot of her friends (19-20 something) are into C&W because of Rascal Flats. These guys helped get them there and now they like other "true country" artists. Ou! Now we have Kid Rock and his nasty "All Summer Long". He's not country either, but this song rocks! 8-)
  2. Well now, if we're talkin' hot, I'd go with Carrie or Miranda Lambert. As an older fart, Dolly, Reba and Faith are "hot', but Terri Clark is my fantasy! 8-)
  3. Hey! This section is tough, we take no prisoners. It's "tough love", but it's honest and never sugarcoated. 8-)
  4. Song of the Year STAY by Sugarland! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
  5. I would take those bad girls in picture two any day of the week! 8-)
  6. Tonight is the night! ;D ;D ;D
  7. We are posed to test this year's lows: http://www.foxbusiness.com/story/markets/futures-green-paulson-press-conference/ 7000 on the Dow seems probable, 5000 possible.
  8. I expect OPEC to show their true colors: Call for an another "Emergency Meeting" and cut production again. The oligopoly that controls 40% of worldwide production will vigorously defend a pricing level of $50. Oil can certainly go lower, much lower, but expect resistance at $50. The "oil shortage" last summer was a mirage. The "oil glut" is real. >
  9. WOO-HOO! Still falling and a new handle: $55.80 at the 2:00 CST close. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
  10. You will have to shop around because a new model has been introduced. You need to find the 2500FI series for the $50 price. Cabela's is sold out of this and the 1500FI. 8-)
  11. We try. The official position is "Personal attacks will not be tolerated." Regarding "harmful remarks", again , we try. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator
  12. Reel: Shimano Symtre 2500 series can be found for around $50. http://www.cabelas.com/prod-1/0023116118273a.shtml Others will give you suggestions on some good, inexpensive rods, but at least look at something other than an Ugly Stick. Be sure to keep an eye on our "Flea Market". You'll find some killer deals in that section of the Forum. 8-)
  13. I don't agree at all, but like other aspects of fishing, personal preference trumphs traditional thinking: (1) I have no problem working jerkbaits or topwater lures on a rod with a soft tip. (2) There is no real "hook-set" with jekbaits, the fish hook themselves. (3) Playing a fish caught on a treble hook is much better with a forgiving rod. 8-)
  14. The tip is soft which is an advantage for many techniques. However, jigs and soft plastics require a firm tip mostly for feel (sensitivity), but also for help with the hook set. edit: Hey Chris at Tech! I guess we were tying at the same time and you were faster! Sounds like we're on the same page. -Kent 8-)
  15. Okay guys, I know where she lives and I'm after a particular fish. I catch some big largemouth on bulky presentations, but have also caught a couple of 6+ smallmouth on hair jigs. Do you have a strong preference and if so, why? 8-)
  16. Nice trip, great pics! 8-)
  17. Too cool! A warning to others: NEVER give your credit card number or social security number to ANYONE over the phone unless you initiated the call and know exactly who you are dealing with. ;D ;D ;D
  18. New lows: $56.50
  19. ;D ;D ;D ;D $57.20 ;D ;D ;D ;D Local retail droped a dime overnight! $1.79 anywhere, cheaper at a few stations! p.s. Long Mike: Schnucks is a regional chain headquartered in St. Louis. The discount applies to grocery purchases over $25 and accumulates. 8-)
  20. I fish Panther Martins only: Gold blade, black with chartruese spots. 8-)
  21. Welcome aboard! My suggestion is a 6" GYCB Senko, weightless and weedless. Make long casts parallel to the bank and out 10-15 yards from the shoreline in deeper water. Fish the entire pond whether there is any apparent structure or not. Good luck! 8-)
  22. Been through this about four lines down: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1225404786 8-)
  23. I STRONGLY prefer spinning equipment for hard jerkbait fishing. I find it much more comfortable than casting equipment. This year, I've found that my 6'6" BPS Extreme MH rod (rated for 1/4 - 5/8) with a Stradic 2500 is pretty darn good for this. I'm able to comfortably throw both Pointer 78s and 100s, as well as the smaller and larger X-raps. I've got the same rod that RW recommends and it does work well for this application. However, my wrists are much bigger fans of the spinning outfit. For colors, I like American Shad, Ghost Minnow, Chartreuse Shad, and the Rapala silver and gold versions. Well, I see your point. I bought a Fenwick Techna AVS70MM specifically for fishing jerkbaits at nigth, but find myself using it more and more. What I particularly like about this rod is how well it casts the lighter lures (X-Raps). Still, my main rod is the Avid. Slightly off-topic. The Avid AVC66MF is also a great all-around rod for just about every medium weight lure. However, it's not for soft plastics or jigs. I saddled mine up with a Shimano Core and in addition to jerkbaits, I use it for spinnerbaits, buzzbaits and topwater. 8-)
  24. I had some luck and will pick up a few more, plus snaps, no swival!
