St Croix Avid or Carrot Stix LTX???
Excellent comparison from a man that has tried both. I think the biggest decision might be the split grip. You better try it out for yourself. Some like them a lot, but they are not for everyone. 8-)

A Day off - pic heavy
If you are going to wipe your dirty hands off on a towel, it's good to do it on one that is already ruined. ;D My first choice would have to be a black and gold one though. 8-) DUDE! That ain't right! :

trouble with soft plastics slipping
Try a Gamakatsu or XPoint 4/0 Offset Worm Hook. That's what I fish. 8-)

South Park Season 12!
American Idol, Friends, Sex In The City, all reality shows and South Park are some of the more notable television shows I have never seen, but I do catch "Walker, Texas Ranger" just about every night! :

Wide Gap vs regular worm hooks
I use 4/0 EWG for most of my soft plastics, but I use to use the Round Bend (1st picture above). For big diameter worms or a 7" Senko, I still use a heavy gauge 5/0 Round Bend. This hook tends to secure the bait better. 8-)

Keep bait casting reel horizontal or vertical ?
I am not disagreeing with you, that's how I usually cast. However, I notice a lot of guys that are pretty darn good don't seem to make the adjustment. 8-)

Keep bait casting reel horizontal or vertical ?
That's a trick that helps a lot when people are learning to use a baitcaster, but after you become more proficient, I don't think it is as important. 8-)

Please help me manage my lures - which tackle box to buy?
My simple plan: All of my baits/ lures are stored in plastic boxes, on shelves in a fishing room off of my garage. Everything I think I'll "need" is stored in a XPS 3600 tackle bag; hardware, maintenance gear and line in a hard box. For the Guntersville trip I have consolidated everything I might "actually fish" into a 12" X 6 or 8" plastic box that opens on both sides. This is the box I will carry on the boat and modify if necessary every day. Two days there will be three fishing, plus a guide. On those days I plan to carry four rods, two of which will be stored. So, a small box and two rods will be with me while I am fishing, that's all! 8-)

OK guys eat your hearts out
Good luck in Texas, but regardless of what happens down there, you WILL catch some nice fish at Guntersville! The timing is perfect and hopefully the weather will cooperate. This lake should be on fire! 8-)

First day with Speed Clips, lost a bass and bait...
Just started using them for some hard baits, but our BassResource.com member, Bud from Kentucky, has been using them for years. He doesn't have a problem with Duolock Snaps and you shouldn't either! 8-)
