  1. What's that? Baking soda, baby powder or flour? I don't think so... :
  2. I suspect fuel costs were not a consideration. The owner was probably only planning to use that vessel for a one way trip, one time. :
  3. From Tuesday, March 4, 2008: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1204646004 8-)
  4. Well, I could be wrong! I hope ReelMech comments on this thread. 8-)
  5. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  6. Bill Dance is one of the top tournament fisherman of all time and one of the originals! His shows demonstrate how to catch fish and, obviously, promote equipment. If you don't like the format, don't watch it, it's that simple. Catching big bass on his ponds is "for show", but that wasn't the case during his tournament days. Something most people don't know, Bill still fishes catfish tournaments and wins! His partner, James "Big Catfish" Patterson, and he have won three (?) of the last five Mississippi River Championships held here in Memphis. This man can still fish. 8-)
  7. NO! Absolutely not! The reel probably came with some Shimano grease which you might add through the port, but oil is for lubricating the exterior components of the reel. 8-)
  8. You dog! ;D ;D ;D CONGRATULATIONS! ;D ;D ;D 8-)
  9. CI200D (6.2:1 gear ratio, 26 IPC) The DVP is too slow for an "all-around" reel, 5.0:1 and 21 IPC is more of a specialty reel for crankbaits (deep divers). The DSV has a deep spool and wastes line. I have some deep spool reels and they are of no advantage for bass fishing. http://fish.shimano.com/catalog/fish/products/group_detail.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302036642&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474395181270&bmUID=1204896589344 8-)
  10. As Alpster noted, the MBR844 will work well for most soft plastics and especially the Senko. However, just to be clear, I fish all soft plastics on spinning gear. Even the best baitcaster can't make a Senko stay attached to the hook 100% of the time! I consider this rod to be "The Best" all-around baitcaster, period. 8-)
  11. Technically, Shimano has a one year warranty, but they are much more flexible than that. http://fish.shimano.com/publish/content/fish/sac/us/en/customer_service/warranty_information.html 8-)
  12. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  13. Well, I don't know when I will make it up there, but Lake Erie is my #1 Fantasy Destination! If a fellow plans a trip, what is the best alternative if the lake isn't suitable? Is there an inland lake close that would work for Plan B? 8-)
  14. Micro and others who posted on this thread: I know your post started out innocent enough, but it grew! We are not allowing glam shots anymore. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior
  15. I purchased #4 & #6. #4 could be broken by hand and was unfishable. I lost all confidence in the line and threw it away.
  16. Guys that own the BCR854 think it's a great choice, too. I don't have either BCR, but I'm sure both are fine sticks. 8-)
  17. Really? Where? I have never found a "deal".
  18. I have never heard that, either. >
  19. My back aches just reading these posts. I would have to ride in something comparable to an aircraft carrier to fish in 4 and 5' seas. A few years ago I got stuck on Lake Michigan in a bass boat with what I consider big waves (3-4'). I haven't been back.
  20. Soft plastics: Tubes fished deep on structure. Both Senkos and Fat Ika if you catch a day when the fish are shallow. Grubs on a jig head when bass are up busting shad. Hard baits: LC Pointers Rat-L-Trap type lures Jigs 8-)
  21. The line is actually Toray. I don't fish it, but have heard excellent reports. The question I have is how manageable the line actually is on spinning gear? 8-)
  22. You da MAN! Thank you. ;D ;D 8-)
  23. The White River below Bull Shoals in north central Arkansas holds four species: rainbow, brook, cutthroat and German brown. I fish with Tim "Hot Dawg" Curtis, full-time guide. Fishing with Dawg, you can expect to catch 20-30 trout per day. Last June I took a friend who caught 54 the first day! If it's a trophy you're after, this section of the White River has the potential to produce the next World Record German brown and rainbow trout. Size and numbers, what else can we ask for? 8-)
  24. Man, what a catch: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,335510,00.html 8-)
  25. Hamilton is right there and Quachaita is a short drive. I think Lake Quachita is the most beautiful lake in the region, offers multispecies fishing and clear, clean water. Good luck! I hope you talk her into the move. 8-)
