Rod for Jerkbaits
Hard jerkbaits: 6 1/2' baitcasting rod, Medium Power/ Fast Action with a soft tip. My rig is a St. Croix Avid AC66MF/ Shimano Metanium. The rod might be found on sale for around $100. Soft jerkbaits: 7' spinning tackle, Medium Power/ Fast Action with a firm tip. I use my soft plastics rod, St. Croix Legend Elite ES70MF/ Shimano Stella 2500FB. 8-)

Baitcasting from Shore?
Hmm... That creates a picture in my mind of some skinny dude in hip-waders, casting an original Floating Rapala into a 20 mph wind with his pink Pixy. : 8-)

A farewell to one of the greats...
** MODERATOR NOTE ** Lighten up, please. This thread is a tribute to a man that I think everyone who loves the game respects. Start another thread titled "The Greatest Quarterbacks" or something along that line if you like, but this thread has been edited to stay on topic. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator

What are the top 3 lakes in each state (AL, GA, FL)?
It seems to me that Florida needs to produce its first 20 before talk of a new World Record is plausable. 17.27 lbs is a fine fish, but not really "in the hunt". http://www.floridafishinglakes.net/floridafishingspecies.html 8-)

OK guys eat your hearts out
I think that is considered a "typo" rather than a spelling error. :

Baitcasting Or Spinning For Cranks
Only sissies use spinning tackle! Just kidding. I fish both and like them equally, but I have a strong preference for one over the other for specific techniques. For lures requiring a constant retrieve (crankbaits, spinnerbaits and buzzbaits), I prefer baitcasting gear. More generally: Spinning tackle: Finesse fishing Baitcasting gear: Power fishing 8-)

Skinny Bass
Wow! Isn't that interesting? Certainly something I have never considered. Russ, is the plastic used by the manufacturer of *** all the same? I wonder how long it takes to dissolve and if there is a significant difference between soft and relative hard plastic formulas? When left in water, the Yamamoto formula swells and becomes mushy after a few days. I don't know whether they are more digestable, but it seems they might be. We may have to start fishing GULP! 8-)

FLA boy fishing in TN
Welcome aboard! There are great lakes and rivers throughout the region. Fundamentally, the major difference in bass fishing here vs. Florida is fishing structure instead of cover. Good luck! 8-)

another noob - pics and pond question
Welcome aboard! That fish looks healthy, but until you know more about the pond, you shouldn't keep any. A one acre pond is really small and may not hold but a few bass. 8-)
