  2. Patient. I cast and light a cigarette. After the Fat Ika reaches the bottom, I usually let it sit at least 15-30 seconds, sometimes longer. The pause between movements can be short (10-15 seconds) or long. One cast and retrieve takes awhile if I'm fishing good structure or cover. I will be interested to hear how you do with a C-rig. Please post results, good or not. I think the weight will negate the inherent action of the bait, but we'll see. Good luck! 8-)

Well, there seems to be a lot of gray area if you ask me. I'm a Shimano man, but for free Diawa Steez and a few thousand dollars, I think I might like that brand just fine. You might prefer your Mecury motor, but do you think you could get use to a FREE Yamaha? I just don't think it's all cut and dry. 8-)
  6. No way! I would get a plastic box like a autographed baseball is displayed in and put it somewhere that I could catch a glimpse every now and then. Too cool to get wet. 8-)
  7. You don't really need a link, just type it in... http://www.316lurecompany.com/ :
  8. dodgeguy has been fishing this line for some time and has consistantly posted very positive comments. If you decide to give it a try, be sure to buy "Red Cast" as he has suggested. This is the line dodgeguy specifically recommends so it is very important that you buy this line and not the other. 8-)
  9. For the past three years, the Fat Ika has been my #1 producer for largemouth bass. I rarely use the lure for smallmouth because I generally fish the Tennessee River. This bait works much better fished slowly on the bottom, in water that is not moving. 8-)
  10. That's quite a haul, nice work. Good luck! 8-)
  11. Post your question in the "Western" section, too. 8-)
  12. Maybe a little discount should be considered since the same outfit is offered at BPS for $140 after rebate. :
  13. No, I don't fish BPS rods, but some of our members that are familiar with them think they are fine at this pricing point. Most guys will say that the rod is more important than the reel. I think that is probably true if we are just talking about "catching" fish. However, most of our time is not spent "catching". The majority of the time we are just "fishing" and a high quality reel makes this aspect far more enjoyable. On average, my reels represent 2/3 - 3/4 of the cost of a combination. Later on you may decide to upgrade your rods, but you will probably keep your Citica for a decade or more. At this pricing point, the Citica is a great reel! 8-)
  14. The combination I suggested can be considered "all-purpose". Your first rod should have a firm tip so it can be used to fish soft plastics and jigs. Although treble hook lures will fish fine, your next purchase should be something with a soft tip or Moderate Action. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1141187546 http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1196114229 8-)
  15. Do you think you can scrub the autograph off without damaging the finish? : 8-)
  16. Welcome aboard! This is $140 after rebate: http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_74456_100003001_100000000_100003000_100-3-1 Specifically, CI200DSV matched with a 6 1/2 or 7' Medium Power/ Fast Action rod. 8-)
  17. I was looking forward to meeting you, Catt. I hope to see you next time. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior
  18. Jerkbaits for me. 8-)
  19. This is THE big smallmouth spinnerbait: 3/4 oz Ledgebuster Single Willow Blade 8-)
  20. Will you let me catch one of you DD California beauties? I suppose I might change my preference if we had largemouth bass the size of yours.! 8-)
  21. Our "season" never closes although our targets change in the Mid-South. It's still primetime for smallmouth and sauger around here. Green fish should be coming on shortly, but for me, it's almost striper season, too! Most guys mix in white bass and crappie fishing in the early spring. A little later, monster bream and spots. Catfish fishing also picks up as the water warms. It's always a "great time of year" when the weather cooperates and the TVA releases a little water! 8-)
  22. Great post! I suspect some of our northern members would opt for a little global warming about this time of year. 8-)
