  1. No, just summarizing smcentee's experience and suggesting he sell the rod. It seems the Carrot is very hard to come by and I'm sure several Forum members would be interested in buying the rod. He doesn't seem pleased, but others might be.
  2. Hmm... I'm surprised Michael Jordan didn't make your top five. He seemed "a little above average" to me. 8-)
  3. Your recovery seems to be going very well and your spirit is bright. We all wish you the very best during this trying time. God's speed! 8-)
  4. A winter wonderland! We ended up with 6-8" around the area and woke to clear skies and 24 degrees. The blanket of snow is uniform and the trees look like something on a postcard from a far away land (Rhode Island?) It's just B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L! 8-)
  5. Jerkbaits are a good option in both lakes. I prefer the Lucky Craft Pointer 100, but I also fish Rapala Husky Jerks (blue & silver) and the X-Rap (white). My #1 suggestion for soft plastics in the GYCB Fat Ika, followed by GYCB 5" Single Tail Grub and the Single Tail Hula Grub. For big smallmouth, try a 3/4 oz Ledgebuster Single Willow Blade around deep structure, humps, drops and points. This is the only spinnerbait I use to target brown fish. Good luck! 8-)
  6. We have a number of members that are talking about trying the Carrot. List the rod for sale in the Flea Market for full price + shipping and I bet someone will buy it. Right now this novelty rod is hard to find and should sell quickly. Most of the guys that are interested already have plenty of great rods and are just interested in something different. The features and components they demand in their other high quality equipment is simply ignored in this instance. A poorly designed grip, lack of customer service and "attitude" are easily dismissed, but you don't have to put up with it! 8-)
  7. The smallmouth seem inspired by the cold water. This is the very best time of year in this region. The fish are big and strong. Yes, they do pull hard and as a special treat, they also jump high! I would like to be on the Tennessee River this weekend, but the weather has turned too cold and we have 6" of snow on the ground. 8-)
  8. Soft plastics and jerkbaits: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1204046109 http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1202759373/0 Good luck! 8-)
  9. Welcome aboard! You have a lot of options in this area. Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas will keep you busy for a few years, but Kentucky, Missouri and Alabama are within easy driving distance, too. Good luck! 8-)
  10. Welcome aboard! I don't fish braid, but you will have several suggestions shortly. 8-)
  11. If your boat floats away from the dock and you're lucky enough to have a Revo and a rod somewhere close, you can reel your boat back to the dock. I thought you knew that RW. ;D Besides missing you at Guntersville, I am very disappointed that I am not going to have the opportunity to fish the Revo/Kistler combination you promised me! Next year. ;D ;D 8-)
  12. Work your way back through this entire section. George Welcome posts weekly on what's working and how he fishes. I am very surprised you haven't hired him to take you fishing for at least a day. Most importantly, be careful! Stick Marsh/ Farm 13 is dangerous for those that don't fish the lakes regularly. Be very careful.
  13. Hmm... I guess I don't see the point. When I set up a new combination, I initially set the drag with a scale. My Heavy Power rods don't seem to like to raise more than 3- 4 lbs of weight. Where does 14 lbs come into play? My "systems" are balanced, I never get broken off by a fish and have never broken a rod "fishing". Frankly, I cannot imagine why anyone fishing feshwater equipment would ever need or put into play, 14 lbs of drag. What am I missing here?
  14. I don't know anything about "purchasing a warranty". One year is the manufacturer's warranty as stated in the link I posted. However, Shimano will do much better than that if there is ever a problem. This is a company that's has built a reputation over a period of decades and stands by their products. If there is something wrong, Shimano will work with you to get it resolved. 8-)
  15. Three years ago Memphis received snow for the first time since I moved here in 1997. Tonight we have a blizzard! 6" of snow and it's still coming down! The city is basically shutdown and the silence is deafing. We have at least a few more hours left in the storm and the temperatures are still dropping. What a beautiful sight! 8-)
  16. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  17. Generally you only pay sales tax if you are "in state".
  18. You will be very pleased. From that point on, it's not "the equipment". : http://www.deloscustomtackleshack.com/reels/shimanocitaca.html 8-)
  19. No http://www.sportsmanswarehouse.com/shop.cfm
  20. Dr. Raul, I think you have identified the problem! 8-)
  21. Nope. I can't help. :-/
  22. Welcome aboard! I have lures with most colors, but I generally fish "dark" or some kind of white and/or silver regardless of the water or time of year. Sometimes chartreuse, too! 8-)
  23. Welcome aboard! 8-)
