  1. David's recommendations for grease and oil are applicable to all reel brands. 8-)
  2. Go to ReelMech's website for recommendations, he has posted his preferences quite often. I for one would follow his advice, he has been at this for awhile. : 8-)
  3. I noticed St. Croix now makes a line of Crankbait rods in their Avid series. I think the equivalent to the AC66MF would be their AVC66MM. I'm wondering if this new rod would be the "ideal" treble hook rod. It seems very tempting... Yes! I suspect this would be an ideal rod for treble hooks. 8-)
  4. I agree, the Fenwick Techna AV is a nice series. I have an AVS70MM that I primarily use to fish jerkbaits at night. Baitcasting is more than I like to deal with in the dark! : 8-)
  5. Probably just you and me, Speedy is guiding on the 8th. Maybe I'll learn something this weekend that will help us on our piece of the river! 8-)
  6. Well, there are a few of us here that fish rivers for smallmouth, too: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1204041316 8-)
  7. For a better "all-around" rod for light fishing, the St. Croix Avid AS66MLF would be an outstanding buy, on sale for around $100. I would suggest matching this up with a Stradic 1000FH if you can find that on sale, too. With a little luck, you might be able to put this package together for less than $150. Some of our members have found the Avids for as little as $65 and there are lots of deals on the discontinued Stradics. Good luck! 8-)
  8. I'm fishing futher into Kentucky Lake this weedkend with CJ and hopefully Bud. We think jerkbaits might be the ticket, some friends of theirs did well last weekend throwing the Lucky Craft Pointer 78. Maybe we'll have some new pictures next week! 8-)
  9. Am I keeping up? #83? Great fish, great pic! 8-)
  10. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  11. GREAT pics guys! Question for The Natural: What are you doing with all that Yo-Zuri? You have been touting P-Line CXX for some time. Are you interested in selling some of the #12? If your are, I would be interested. 8-)
  12. Yo-Zuri Hybrid specs: http://www.yo-zuri.com/Products/ProdLine/HybridLineChart.htm If you can find a St. Croix Avid AC70MHF on sale for around $100, that would be the ticket. 8-)
  13. I have never worn out a jig. Mine have a very short life expectancy. 8-)
  14. Man, between the fishin' and eatin', I wonder if we'll have any time for drinkin'? :
  15. Regardless of the water level, trout will always stage in deep pools. If you know the river, fish where you have found trout before, some will stay and others will join them. 8-)
  16. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  17. Yep, that's my story and I'm stickin' to it! BTW, Move us out about ten yards and square up the front... :

That reminds me, I haven't closely examined the attendees list recently. Will there be special seating for Team Diapers or are they sitting with the grown-ups? :
  19. Earlier in this thread, I suggested that grubs are #1. I posted a couple of pics in the "Outings" section from last weekend. My smallmouth were all caught on a GYCB Single-Tail Grub, 3" Blue Pearl w/ Large Silver Flakes (031). 8-)
  20. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  21. That's how a 3 turns into "about 6". 8-)
