Have You Ever Forced Yourself To Reel Opposite Hand?
George Welcome I love bass fishing! Members 15 1,811 posts Location Sebastian, Florida My PB: Please Choose Favorite Bass: Largemouth Favorite Lake or River: Stick Marsh/Farm 13 (IP: 67.35.112.245) · · Posted August 22, 2007 · Report post Let's get technical, as there are in fact reasons, not just some lame holdover from days past that put the handles where they are. What will move the fish during retrieval is placed to the strong hand! A baitcast is designed to be used as a winch, so it is the reel that retrieves the fish. Hence if you are right handed the handle is in your right hand. A spinning reel is designed to pick up unloaded or loose line, not retrieve the fish. Hence it is the rod that does the retrieval, so it is the rod that is in your strong hand. If you are right handed then the pole goes to the right hand. What weight heads on an A-Rig?
No weight on the outside arms. I'm using LFT Live Magic Shad on a 3/0 EWG Offset Worm Hook. The inside arm is rigged with a Johnson Silver Minnow. This has been working for smallmouth, largemouth and stripers.

Dog dines out
- Gliss, Nanofil, or Fireline Crystal
None of the above... Jigs = Tatsu #12 or #15 Crankbaits = Sunline Shooter Defier Armilo #10 or #12- covering water with finesse presentations
- Underspins?

Late winter and early spring brings literally thousands of fishermen to Lake Fork in Texas. When I was down there MOST of those fishermen spent a good deal of time fishing beds with good success. Over the years the impact on the bass population appears to be nill. I think Lake Fork still produces the greatest number of Share Lunkers for the state program.- Just want to say thank you
Welcome aboard!- To All My Memphis Pond Hoppers!
It's a buffalo fish. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bigmouth_buffalo- Gear Help & Recommendations!
I suggest adding gear "as needed". The generic rod & reels I listed in the post will cover nearly every technique except big swimbaits. As you refine your "needs" other rigs may come into play. For me, a couple of dedicated crankbait outfits are probably used the most. Next is a jerkbait rod, then another baitcaster for moving soft plastics. Jig rod of course and then dedicated spinnerbait...and the list goes on. From a practical point of view I rarely carry more than one rod for shore fishing, two at the most. In a boat, maybe five or six depending on the season.- Tennessee river December 11
Sounds great to me!- Can we revisit FC vs Mono for jerkbaits?
I fish Sunline Shooter Defier Armilo exclusively with anything that has treble hooks.- Swim Jig Rod
I agree, but if you want suggestions for a new rod specify your pricing point. Here is an overview that might help:- Read a cool article
Well, I like mine so that the knot is just below the first eyelet (above the reel). That's my MO for all leaders.- Reels under 6.0 oz
Aldebaran on a Rainshadow Immortal, Core 50Mg saddled to a G.Loomis GLX MBR842C, Okuma Helios on a Helios rod and my latest acquisition, Diawa Alpha waiting for a custom Rainshadow Eternity being built by ghoti.- Favorite Shimano Casting Reel?
Different strokes for different folks! I prefer one over another for specific applications. Overall, the Core 50Mg and Aldebaran get the most use, but the CTE100GT and CTE200GT are my go-to reels for heavier stuff. In terms of "maximum performance" at another pricing point, my Curado 50 is supertuned and super duper!- Paddle Tails
Since they were first introduced. After fishing the Rage Tail Swimmer I have given all of the Keitech away.- West TN Bass Club
New member coming on board. I look forward to meeting everyone next month. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior- To All My Memphis Pond Hoppers!
Nice fish!- Shooter Defier Armilo
I am using the line exclusively for all treble hook applications, mainline not as a leader.- Seaguar
I think the line is intended to be used as a leader. - Gliss, Nanofil, or Fireline Crystal
