Well, I will just agree to disagree. Today's technology trumps many of the "old school" techniques and this is one of those. I know some guys cast with all brakes off, too. That would not be me.

I feel like the purpose of a football jig is to stay down and maintain contact with the bottom. I fish 1/2 oz, 3/4 oz and 1oz jigs. I fish Siebert Outdoors jigs exclusively. Black/ black & blue trailer is a mainstay, PBJ is a close second. My trailers are Rage Tail Craws and Lobsters. Stucture and/ or cover are key, but the #1 variable is depth. Oddly, on any given day the fish will prefer the jig to be dragged or lifted, but one of these presentations will dominate.

The Seaguar I have is 50 lb braid and 25 lb fluorocarbon. Always use backing to save some money. You don't need more than 7' of fluoro and maybe 25 yards of braid. If you decide to just use the fluorocarbon, 30 yards is plenty.

I think "General Studies" degrades the college in general, not just for athletes. And on another note, after some consideration I have some doubts about the list. We know "if it's on the internet it must be true", but not knowing the criteria for ratings my BS alarm has sounded. In the SEC Vanderbilt would have to be included and my alma mater, THE University of Missouri, claims to be #1 in the league. Beyond that, where are the Ivy League schools and our military academies? It just doesn't add up.

I use them extensively, but not on a drop shot. The bait is designed for a moving presentation.
