  1. Try the double fluke, too! http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-videos/how-to-fish-the-double-fluke-rig.html
  2. I caught the same bass a couple of weeks ago and the tail was much worse. It has healed quite a bit, so I think she will survive. It appeared that she might have snipped by a turtle.
  3. Big Bait = Big Fish
  4. Trokar 5/0 Offset Worm Hook
  5. I fish both, but have a strong preference for one over the other. Generally: Power fishing = baitcasting gear Finesse = spinning tackle. The exception is "moving" lures. For cast & quick retrieve I always prefer baitcasting equipment.
  6. I like lizards, but I like the Eeliminator better!
  7. WOW! Great deal! Thank you!
  8. I'm fishing The Bug Rage Rigged most of the time.
  9. A gentle breeze is just perfect.
  10. Stop by and say hi to Bobby at his MegaStrike booth and Big O at Strike King. You might run into Glenn, but he will be busy visiting everyone else. I don't know if we have other sponsors attending, but I'm sure they will post when they see this thread.
  11. In the neighborhood just west and north of Houston Middle School.
  12. Okay, I'm ready for "And now you know the rest of the story".
  13. I have a phone pic if I can figure out how to post it!
  14. Just out for a short trip to a local pond with nothing but a couple of ShakE2 and GYCB Kut Tail. Fishing is slow (nada), the only action is several families of ducks feeding near the bank. I move up ten steps and the ducks move down just ahead of me. So as I move down the bank I'm casting forward and out, away from the ducks ten feet or more. All of a sudden the first group in front of me spooks and take off while my bait is still in the air. Well, as it happened, one of these birds gets tangled up in the line. I don't know what to do, but a lot of things are running through my mind. I'm considering just cutting the line, but then it would be up to the duck to free himself...not a great option. I start flicking my stick, reeling down, then up. Move forward and then back. With all the commotion my reel develops some backlash, but I'm busy playing this darn bird and just have to let the mess be buried in the spool. I'm jerking around like a fool and the bird has gone bonkers! Suddenly, to my amazement, the duck frees himself. He is about twenty yards out and has dragged my line along with him. As I begin retrieving line, it starts moving towards the middle of the pond. When the slack is finally in, I feel some shoulders tugging on what's left. I guess it's only fair to give the duck credit for a good hook-up and a fine fish!
  15. Start with a high quality swim jig from NorthStar or Siebert Outdoors. I prefer the Rage Tail Menace and Shellcracker for trailers. Fish the lure where you might otherwise fish a spinnerbait or crankbait. Cast and retrieve without adding any other action, the trailer will provide all that's needed.
  16. Pickwick if you have a boat or want to hire a guide.
  17. You might find a "gently used" Curado 200E offered in our Flea Market in your pricing range.
  18. This is a great all-around rod: http://www.bassresource.com/fishing_lures/tournament-rod-reel-okuma.html
  19. Depends on who you buy them from. I have bought several reels from BassResource members through our Flea Market.
  20. Flukes are fished best weightless in shallow water; light weight C-rig deeper. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-videos/how-to-fish-the-double-fluke-rig.html
  21. 3 lbs Or maybe that's just what the eyeballs weighed!
  22. It's all about price. As much as I like Shimano reels, Pinnacle has brought out some new gear that is exceptional and well priced. Specifically the Optimus XLT and XiHS: http://www.pinnaclefishing.com/shop/s-5-Tournament-Class-Reels.aspx If super light is your preference, the Okuma Helios Air is one of the finest reels I have ever fished: http://www.okumafishing.com/product/view/reels/baitcast-reels-low-profile/helios-air
