  1. Hmm... Didn't see this thread two months ago. If the season was closed, why were you fishing for them?
  2. Geez... Why not buy a decent rod on our Flea Market? For the same price I bet one of our members has something interesting for sale. Save your money for a couple of months and buy something you will fish for a decade or two. For just a few dollars more you can buy MUCH better gear.
  3. I think the 1/2 oz Red Eye Shad is universal.
  4. Those old reels, many that I own, were/are great. However, the newer reals are SIGNIFICANTLY better. Lighter, tighter tolerances and improved components. A specific comparison is with one of my ALL-TIME favorites, the Chronarch 50MG. Still a great reel and I have two. However, they does not compare favorably with the newer Core 50MG7.
  5. Congratulations!
  6. Nice fish, great pic!
  7. I would find somewhere else to fish.
  8. Listen up boys. This is from a guy who I watched fight the biggest largemouth bass I have EVER seen in person. Spinnerbait was a Siebert Outdoors Cosmic Spinnerbait, White/ Double Willow Silver Blades. Edit: Hey Mike! I don't see white on the website.
  9. I remember when the top three teams were Colorado, Nebraska and Oklahoma! For years (decades) Nebraska and Oklahoma were the real deal. Game Of The Century? Right now, whether you like it or not, the SEC rules. I hope my Tigers are respectable this year, but I'm predicting a Three-Peat for the Tide. Haters call hin Satan, I think the man is something special. Bear who?
  10. Well, I have fished the method for around 10 hours and have never had a bite. Obviously, I don't have a clue.
  11. I think he said this fall.

  13. Right now it's a NorthStar Original Swim Jig (bluegill) with a Rage Tail Shellcracker or Menace trailer. I just received a new batch of Elite swim jigs from Siebert Outdoors. Looking forward to getting out with them, too! The retrieve is steady for me. The key variables are structure, cover and depth. I have NOT found "matching the hatch" to be of any importance. The main forrage at most of the places I fish is threadfin shad (yellowtail). However, I have better luck on almost everything other than silver...go figure?
  14. Well, we had several members asking the same question. The response from Tuf-Line is that wear on the coating does NOT affect the integrity of the line. I have been using the line ever since they became a sponsor earlier this year. I will admit that the aesthetics bother me, too, but I have had no issue with the line breaking.
  15. I guess my choice would be G.Loomis MBR844C/ CTE200GT for use as a single all-around rod.
  16. That's a motly crew. Is that Russ with you? Oops! Filtered his last name. He's still persona non grata around here.
  17. Before there were depthfinders, this was a great way to locate structure. The trick is covering a lot of water. Keep a couple of buoys handy so when you catch a fish you can mark the spot. Then slow down and fish the area with jigs and soft plastics.
  18. I grew up with the Big Eight, graduated from The University of Missouri and have hated the SEC my entire life... Now I ARE one! Missour-RAH! Missour-RAH! Missour-RAH! TIGERS!
  19. Thank you SPEEDBEAD. I think this is the perfect ending for this thread.
