Any Tips For Pickwick Lake?
Pickwick is my home lake, but things change with the seasons. I will give you some up to the minute tips as we get a little closer to game day. A lot depends on where you are putting in, State Park, Yellow Creek, J.P. Coleman or McFarland? Since I'm sure you are anxious to get started, these are a few of the obvious choices we refer to as "community holes". Launching from State Park: The right hand pont leading into the river. The point and the old creek bed both hold fish, usually smallmouth. Next, down to the riprap at the dam and especially the tie-ups next to the lock. Go wide arounf the gates and fish the oother side, then down the bluffs. Putting in at Yellow Creek: The entire bank upstream in yellow Creek across from the marina. Panther Creek and my favorite area on the entire lake, the sand bar in front of Dry Creek (right side). J.P. Coleman: Motor down to Second Creek. Fish the rip-rap in front of the bridge, then start to the right as you enter the creek. The left banks are worthless. McFarland: The rip-rap on the right all the way to the first creek; the bluffs immediately across from the harbor and then down to "the horseshoe" near the dam.

Fragile? Then Don't Send It By The Usps
This has only happened to me one time, but it's really surprising: Several months ago I ordered some Moaner hooks which were mailed USPS. Total value was less than $50 as I recall. The packaging was a standard padded envelope, sealed and taped. The package arrived EMPTY and obviously opened with a knife!

Leader For Braided Line?
C'mon guys... It's fishing, I don't think we need to take it down to personal insults. I don't always like the tone of some peoples post, but grow a little thicker skin and just let it go. Regarding the original question: I have been experimenting with and without a leader. My PERSONAL preference is using a leader. #1 is because I can break off a hang-up when I need to. To become comfortable with the leader you need total confidence in your joining knot. I tie an Alberto Knot, but on average it takes two attempts to create the PERFECT knot. As for length, I have the connecting knot just a few inches above the reel and the line about 6" over the tip. This keeps the knot from coming into play.

Changing Your Line (Dumb Question)
You are making no sense here. The slightest nick requires replacement. Low spools negatively impact casting distance. And although some use expensive line, there are lots of great lines that are dirt cheap. I have bought 1 lb spools of Yo-Zuri Hybrid for under $30. With a little bit of shopping you can find 600 yds for $12 or less.

My $1.40 Chinese Baitcaster Arrived Today.
Really... I think life experience warns us that "If it's too good to be true, it probably isn't." I don't like stuff for $19.99 plus S&H either, especially if you get two or three by calling in the next 10 minutes. And lastly, I don't want ANYTHING free, it usually ends up costing way too much!
