  1. Welcome aboard! To address a couple of your questions: First, you need to learn how to cast a spinning reel. With just a little practice you will do just fine, there is really nothing to it. The exact model will depend on the price you are willing to pay, but a Shimano 2500 Symetre is probably the place to start. http://www.***.com/Shimano_Symetre_FJ_Spinning_Reels/descpage-SSYFJ.html Your first rod should be 6 1/2' - 7' Medium Power/ Fast Action. The price you are willing to pay will determine which rods will be recommended. The St. Croix Avid AVS68MXF is my general suggestion. http://www.reedssports.com/Product/product.taf?_function=detail&_ID=13224 Line: Yo-Zuri Hybrid #6, .010" diameter, 11.9 lb breaking strength.
  2. Set 20 aside and I will pick them up with my next order. I'm headed to the LBAA on Old Hickory, so it will have to wait until next week. -Kent
  3. That's perfect! :D
  4. C'mon guys... Start your own thread if you want to talk another brand. It's free! :D
  5. Hmm... River2Sea Frog...no issues. Sometimes a fish will miss, but otherwise I let them load up and they are mine. http://www.bing.com/shopping/river2sea-bully-wa-frog/p/2EA100D7B838233F5020?q=river2sea+frog&lpq=river2sea%20frog&FORM=HURE
  6. Out'a here boys and girls. Updates to follow!
  7. If you are only buying one, low profile is the ticket. I like them both for different applications.
  8. Well, two completely different reels. I have the Calais mounted on a St. Croix Legend Elite, EC70MHF. I use it to fish 3/4 oz Ledgebusters and Mattlures Baby Bass. It's big, heavy and powerful. The Core 50MG is more of an "all-around" reel. Mine is mounted on a G.Loomis MBR842C. This might be my favorite rig. My Core 100MG is saddled to a Loomis PR844C; topwater and shallow crankbaits. Rating is 9, I prefer the 50. I have never held a Calais 100, but I would go with Raul's expert advice. Second choice is the Core 50MG.
  9. The back half of a Swim Senko, cut just in front of the flat spot.
  10. No action. I have a new bag I just bought to try with small swim jigs. These are black. If you want them for free, send me your address in a PM. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior

  14. Be patient. You might be able to buy a GLX MBR844C or BCR845 for $250-$275. I have bought several rods offered on our our Flea Market. If you want a great rod at a better price, G.Loomis IMX MBR844C $125-$150.

  19. C'mon boys. I have been "collecting" gear for 14 years (1997). I don't fish anything I bought those first 5, but I will fish stuff I have accumulated for the last 10 years for the rest of my life. I wish someone had given me some straight forward advice in those early years. Buying better equipment saves thousands, maybe tens of thousand of dollars over time. Asking for advice after he fact is like being "just a little bit pregnant". The poster responded positively, he took no offense, why would a few of you? I hope everyone, new or experienced, would seek advice before making a "major purchase" whatever that dollar price means to you.
  20. Anyone else coming to the Big Event? If so, let us know and you can join us for dinner and refreshements!
  21. Are we talkin' 50E? If so, "Book'em, Danno". I would like to buy one. Thank you! -Kent
  22. Hmm... Why not ask before buying or reviewing 154,000 posts on the topic? Your choice isn't something most of us would have recommended. The "question" is absurb. Do your homework first.
  23. I invite a lot of friends to fish the pond. As long as the bass are released, it seems to work just fine.
