Almost all your fishing can be done with just one rod. Beyond that, you only "need" three rods: Spinning: 6 1/2' or 7', M or MH, Fast Action (soft plastics and light lures) Baitcasting: MH or H, Fast Action (jigs, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits and all single hooks) Baitcasting: MH, Moderate Action (all treble hook lures) The AVS68MXF is the spinning version; the AVC68MXF, baitcasting. Either rod could be considered "all around", but are targeted for single hooks. For treble hooks, the Avis AVC66MF is my choice for topwater and jerkbaits because it has a soft tip, but is still firm enough to work these lures easily. For medium weight crankbaits, my rod is a AVC70MM. 8-)

Nope, standard rig: egg weight, bead, swivel, leader & hook. 8-)

Make them yourself and store them on the cardboard from a roll of toilet paper. Hook the roll, wrap the line around and cut a small hole to push the swivel through. The choice of leader can be light or heavy, but generally 12 lb fluorocarbon is pretty popular. I use #8 Seaguar InvizX with heavier mainline. 8-)

Already posted pics in "Outings", but the river was on fire before the sun came out around 10:30 Saturday. We were fishing gravel banks in 8' water. Square bill crankbaits ruled! 8-)

The river channel runs to the left, a lesser channel to the right. Gravel and sand are deposited behind the island and continuously shifts. The white bass prefer certain spots which you have to find. Once you find the spot, anchor down and fish until your arms fall off! 8-)

Great reel for kids and people that fish a half day or two a year. If you are going to be involved in the sport, buy a spinning reel and/or baitcaster and learn how to use it. 8-)

The best spot on the entire river is behind Diamond Island. You have to search around a little for the exact spots, but once you find one, anchor down and fish until your arms wear out! 8-)

Shoot...It's just the best time of year to target these fish. Other species may be more exciting for you, but they have their "best time", too. Most of us don't have a legitimate opportunity to catch a DD bass, but you do and I hope you catch a bunch! -Kent

Gravel banks casting into 8' water. The bass were chasing shad in open water, not related to any specific cover or structure. We covered a lot of water fan casting square billed crankbaits. 8-)
