Mandatory on the Tennbessee River. I lose a lot of jigs, but a weed guard saves many. The guard brings a lot of jigs over limbs and rocks. Fishing a jig "naked" in this part of the world equates to a jig's life expectancy of 10 casts or less.

It's a bobber stopper, available at BPS. On T-rigs you use one to protect the knot and another as a variable peg. It's a "standard" for Big O. Just follow the instructions on the package, it's simple, no big deal.

We had over 4" of rain here in the Memphis area today. The Mississippi River is expected to crest on May 12, lasting 10 days. It remains to be seen how the 2011 Flood will compare historically, but it's BIG!

CTE200GT I have three. One is over 10 years old and has been predominately used for stripper fishing on the Tennessee River. In terms of bass fishing, the reel is 1,000 years old! The reel is better today than the first day out of the box. It has been serviced, but never "upgraded". No new parts, no polishing, no nothin', just cleaning, oil & grease. Strong, smooth, silent and reliant.

I think MegaStike helps hold fish longer. The vasoline like texture is VERY user friendly compared to other attractants. However, you may find it annoying if you have just had your nails done!

Ruined for a generation? The reason the region is so fertile is because of THOUSANDS of years of periodic flooding. I think the silt will revitalize the land, not harm it over the long run. 2011 planting may be lost, but next year, crop harvests will be fantastic!

Universal rod: Champion 683C

I have the Champion 683C. I like the rod. I think it compares to St. Croix Avid series and close to G. Loomis IMX. At the pricing point, Dobyns has a great line-up of rods and they are a good value.
