In fast water, in the boils under the dam, we rig the skipjack up through the bottom lip and through the top lip to keep the mouth closed. The alternative is on the top of the head, behind the eyes, but NOT through the brain. "Live bait" must be, alive! 8-)

Unless it's a B.A.S.S. or FLW tournament where you might care about the pros, I don't see any reason to concede a spot to tournament fishermen. They aren't entitled to any special treatment. Some people consider them a nuisance. :

I'm fishing out of Florence this weekend. Hmm... Regardless of the species, fishing at the "right time" increases your odds dramatically. Here in the Mid South Prime Time for stripers starts now! 65.6 lbs. is the state record. The biggest I have seen live was 44 lbs. I'm looking forward to a big girl, too! 8-)

Correct. When bait falls, the bait and weight disconnect creating erratic action. This also eliminates the "feel" of the weight when a bass strikes. 8-)

I like a full spool. I add line "as necessary", 80-100 yards or so at a time. I doubt I ever actually "use" more than 60 yards, but I don't want to feel the connecting knot. 8-)
