Square Bill Crankbait Rod Help!!
You are probably miles ahead with the G. Loomis. I bought the Avid years ago and it has served me well.

Fishing Line
I have been experimenting with several different lines over the last year or so. Here are some observations; Braid sucks, but it has significantly improved my jig fishing. Fireline Braid (not fused) is what I am using. Tatsu is THE BOMB when it come to fluorocarbon line, but it's just too expensive. Seaguar AbrazX #12 for baitcasting, InvizX #8 for spinning tackle. Mono for a dedicated jerkbait rig: Sunline Super Natural Monofilament However, my favorite line is still Yo-Zuri Hybrid. I recently purchased 1 lb spools of both #6 and #12. That's just about enough fishing line to last a lifetime! p.s. Izorline is an alternative everyone should give a try. This is my overall second choice and a favorite among professional anglers.

Square Bill Crankbait Rod Help!!
My suggestion is a St. Croix Avid AVC70MM. This rod perfect for light and medium weight lures.

Now It's Oklahoma
Thanks! We're fine. Here in the Memphis area we have had all of the warnings, watches and a rash of tornadoes, but have only suffered through tropical rains and flooding. "Lucky" I guess.

Pick A Line
Hmm... I have been testing a few for the past year or so... Winners: Tatsu hands down, but the price is outrageous! Okay, specific suggestions: Seaguar #12 AbrazX for baitcasters Seaguar #8 InvizX for spinning tackle. Improve performance by at leasst 100% with KVD Line & Lure Conditioner.

Lake Fork Live Magic Shad
Your smallmouth will eat them up. The trick with the Swarming Hornet is to allow the blade to lift the lure. When you pump the rod, you simply move the lure forward. A more effective retrieve is a quick 4-5 turns of the reel, then drop on slack line. Repeat until you feel you are "out of the zone".
