  1. This is my take: I buy things that will last for years, maybe a decade or more. This is how you "build" an arsenal. I suggest buying just one rig of better quality this year. With a little patience and shopping you can find this combination within your budget. Shimano Stradic CI4 (retail $200, maybe $150) St. Croix Avid AVS68MXF ($180, maybe $125) A CI4 may be offered soon on our Flea Market, another model Avid was offered recently for $105. This is doable for less than $300. 8-)
  2. Unless unknowingly using a rod that has been compromised, I can't imagine myself fishing with equipment that is know to fail. This will break your heart if the fish of a lifetime is on the end of your line! :-[
  3. I carry a number of brands, but Rat-L-Traps are not among them. My most productive lipless crank by far is a Xr50, blue/chrome. 8-)
  4. Fun to watch for sure! Congrats to all Packer fans! ;D ;D ;D
  5. New, old country... http://www.onlylyrics.com/hits.php?grid=8&id=1034619 I don't care for the "pop country", but some of today's artists are producing some great music! 8-)
  6. The G. Loomis is probably the better rod, but I am very happy with the Avid AVC70MM. 8-)
  7. In gin clear water, regular Yo-Zuri Hybrid green blends almost perfectly. If you don't mind spending the money, Tatsu is THE BOMB. Otherwise, I think Seaguar AbrazX is an excellent fluorocarbon. 8-)
  8. Generally, I only buy stuff that people I respect recommend or on occasion, see demonstrated. A couple of examples are Mile Whitten demonstrating the Fat Ika, Gay Blade and Swarming Hornet/ LFT Live Magic Shad in the BPS tank. Another was a Pro introducing the Senko in 1997! At any rate, I rarely (never) buy a lure that just "looks interesting". My color selection is even less imaginative, usually "natural" and/or "dark". 8-)
  9. I think you should buy something you will never need to replace. That's how you "build" an arsenal! My suggestion is a St. Croix Avid AVC70MM/ Citica 200E. 8-)
  10. What are the lures you always have rigged?
  11. We have an event coming up on Kentucky Lake towards the end of April. Do you have any specific suggestions for that lake in early spring? 8-)
  12. Man, a lot of us just like to "collect" stuff. We own a whole lot of gear we have never/ will never fish. My personal obsession is jerkbaits. What's yours? I won't pick up this reel, it's a Diawa...but I own a few Stella. I like 'em, they perform perfectly. On the other hand, they probably don't catch more fish for me than using a Stradic. It's just fun for me. Isn't that what it's all about? 8-)
  13. Hey! Dude gets a day off once and awhile. No issue, I'm sure. -Kent

  15. Hmm... MFBAB caught a 2-3 lb Kentucky bass last weekend. Neither of us had another bite all day. Maybe he didn't notice or just forgot, but I fished a spoon last weekend. Anyhow, good luck! But my advice would be: Stay home. :-X

  20. Sounds pretty cool to me. I think this would be a great addition to someone's collection. Hope to read a review from a BR member sometime soon. 8-)
