I had mine serviced by Reel Mech, but when I got it back it was still an Abbadabbado! : Seriously, I have the original model which is solid and smooth. "Upgrading" the drag makes no sense to me.

You will be just fine with the FI. The new CI4 comes with one spool only and nothing is interchangeable. This is all new design and technology in the Stradic series. 8-)

I would start with a Rage Tail Shad or Cavitron Buzzbait early. Maybe follow-up with a spinnerbait. Next, Fat Ika and/or Senko, weightless & weedless. If any of that worked, I would stay with it. Otherwise, Swarming Hornet with a LFT Live Magic Shad trailer. Next would be Shake2/ Rage Tail Lobster or GYCB Kut Tail. Maybe a drop shot with a 4" Slug Go. Back to "moving" baits, Rage Tail Rooster, Keiteck Swing Impact Swimbait Fat 4.8", GYCB Swimming Senko or Kreature. Around 10:00 I would focus on your favorite jig presentation and fish that until 2:00 or maybe the rest of the day. 8-)

We are not talking about white bass. Striper are a saltwater species that can live in freshwater. A hybrid is a striper/ white bass blend. The hybrid is sterile.

Well, the CI4 has many features that were previously only available in the Stella. I think this reel is the "Best Value" in the Shimano line-up. 8-)
