  1. Please read FAQs before posting. We have very few topics that are "off limits", but this is one of them. To address your question, I'll summarize general consensus: The Banjo Minnow will produce a few fish when almost anything would work better. For a much lower cost and less hassle, the Slug-Go or fluke are similar. We're closing this thread, but if you have a specific question, send me a PM and I will try to answer it for you. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator p.s. Take a few minutes to look around the site, we have specific sections for most topics. Questions or comments about lures belong in "Tackle".

  4. Hard bottom. Specifically, gravel bars and humps. Beds can be in deeper water (~15') if the water is clear. Otherwise, 4-5' is common. 8-)
  5. Here ya go: Maybe this will help: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1141187546 Specifically: Technique specific rods are for "enthusiasts". Almost all your fishing can be done with just one rod. Beyond that, you only "need" three rods: Spinning: 6 1/2' or 7', M or MH, Fast Action (soft plastics and light lures) Baitcasting: MH or H, Fast Action (jigs, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits and all single hooks) Baitcasting: MH, Moderate Action (all treble hook lures) 8-)
  6. Big O & Paul, Thanks! 8-)
  7. You're so spoiled... Nice fish! 8-)

  10. I think it was the shad kill. It's hard to fool fish that are so well fed! 8-)
  11. For small soft plastics, the Swimming Senko is a consistent producer. I have recently started fishing the Keitech Swing Impact 4.8" with good results. Although both baits can be rigged weightless, for maximum performance pegged or screw-in weights are best for the Senko; jig head for the Keitech. 8-)
  12. Thanks! I will use hot glue. BTW, I didn't break the tip, the insert came out. It was on the inside and saved by the line. However, after talking with G. Loomis Customer Service, I was told the whole tip had to be replaced and they are sending me a couple.
  13. +1 Just be patient, you will love this reel as much as The Rooster: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1271721785 8-)
  14. No, but I keep some for display. It's like a restored Model T. Great for a short Sunday drive, but not for a cross-country trip or even everyday use. 8-)
  15. I think Paul's post was a Rage Talk exclusive, or I just don't recall the post here. At any rate, great idea. However, these are the wrong threads. Could you find and resubmit the detailed instructions Paul wrote-up, please? He had pictures describing each step and the final rigging as I recall. Thanks! -Kent 8-)
  16. Just curious but how come you don't like Rat-L-Traps? Mostly it's the hooks. Has that changed?
  17. WOW! Nice fish, great pics! 8-)
  18. In case you missed this on our Home Page: http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/fishing-line-system.html I found the article very interesting. What do you think? 8-)
  19. Another article I ran across: http://www.mississippigameandfish.com/fishing/bass-fishing/ms_aa052904a/index.html 8-)
  20. You will have better luck with thicker line. I use 50/.014", but a lot of guys prefer 65/.016" or 80/.017". 8-)
  21. Reels require maintenance. Line is changed occasionally or "as needed". Continuing to fish with "frayed and weak"? I don't think so.
  22. Gut the fish and rinse. Place fish belly up and stuff the cavity with butter, lemon wedges and basil. Salt & pepper to taste. Transfer fish to a cedar shingle. Bake, uncovered, at 350* for twenty minutes. Remove fish and serve cedar plank with potato salad and bread on the side. :
  23. Message received Saturday: All done guys All is well. Thanks for the well wishes and I'll try and get back here asap. Thanks again Catch 'em up
