I have tried it both ways and weightless. T-rigged transfers all the energy to the tail. The body wiggles more than I like with the weighted hook. -Kent

Spinning: InvizX #8, .009 diameter, comparable to #4 in other lines. Baitcaster: AbrazX #12 I have been testing these two lines since last fall on a couple of rigs. Very impressed. I like everything except the cost! 8-)

The Curado 200E7 is a fine reel and a great value. Mine is matched to a BCR854, my dedicated jig rig. The combination is both beautiful and functional. Satisfaction rating is a dead solid 10. 8-)

The fish will most likely be bedding on gravel bars, sunken islands and humps. Try to identify the structure and fish around it, not on the structure. Not all smallmouth spawn at the same time. I would focus on those fish staging, preparing to bed. Specific lures would include Fat Ika shallow, tubes deep; lizard C-rigged or on a split shot; Wiggle Warts; Bandit 200 and your favorite jerkbait. I face the same situation this weekend. I have not fished the Rapala Shad Rap or spinnerbaits yet, but plan to add them to the mix. Local guides have suggested focusing on numbers, not size right now. We'll see. Good luck! 8-)

I love "nasty" food, but just occasionally. Chili topped with sharp cheddar cheese, diced raw white onions, jalapeno peppers and sour creme. Dill pickles and crackers on the side! Then "leftovers". Same recipe, but as the topping for a chili cheese dog! I add relish and mustard to finish off this dish. Chips or tatter tots on the side. 8-)
