  1. Too cool... CONGRATULATIONS!
  2. No, not at all. Rapala refers to the X-Rap as a "slashbait". It is designed to be fished aggressively, without pause.By contrast, the LC Pointer is a true jerkbait, designed to be paused and suspend. 8-)
  3. Tune into CMT Saturday or Sunday for the weekly countdown. Many of today's Country stars are the best of the all-time greatest. King George and Reba come to mind. They are touring together right now. Those two could have put on a great halftime show. How 'bout Brooks & Dunn? The list goes on and on. However, The Who wouldn't be on anyone's list. Totally ridiculous. :-X
  4. Alberto's Knot http://www.stripersonline.com/Pages/Articles/article_arby_albertos_knot.shtml 8-)
  5. Size 100 Aurora Black, Ghost Tennessee Shad, Sexy Chartreuse and Aurora Bass
  6. Here in the Mid South, weather forecasting is 99.9% accurate August through mid September: Temperatures in the high 90s to low 100s; humidity 65% or greater; and a 10% chance of showers, except when it's raining! 8-)
  7. Well, I think the performance is comparable. That doesn't make the Curado my favorite reel, but it is "strong, smooth, silent and reliant". 8-)
  8. Me too! Check out Glenn's video: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1247326108/ 8-)
  9. At that pricing point there are plenty of options that you can "get your hands on" at any retailer. 8-)
  10. Many premium hooks are chemically sharpened. Owners have a triple-edged cutting blade: http://www.ownerhooks.com.au/ownerhooks.html Sharpening these hooks is counterproductive. It tends to destroy the physical integrity of the hook point. Dull, broken or rolled tips require replacement. 8-)
  11. Welcome aboard! 58 lbs is quite a striper, congrats! 8-)
  12. Who Dat? Welcome aboard! 8-)

WOW! Nice fish, especially this time of year. CONGRATULATIONS!
  14. Yeah, right. You make the same pitch as the snake oil salesman from the days before science was taken seriously. Beware, not every thief hides in the shadows. Magic cures are found or distributed by promoters. Scientists spend their careers working on medicines. Important drugs are only "discovered" in the jungle in movies, on TV and infomercials.
  15. How 'bout you? No problems with the rain? I hope you are safe. -Kent
  16. Yep.. It's the price of "cool". The Law of Diminishing Returns applies to reels, too! More technically, as you know, the "features" and components are more than we mere mortals can appreciate. This is another reason why people should fish brand names with a reputation for quality. Personally, I depend on expertise to guide me towards the better equipment. I really don't know why one worm gear is better than another. I rely on Shimano professionals to know the difference. 8-)
  17. Fishing a jig. My strong suit is soft plastics and you might think the jig is about the same...NOT! After more than two years, I finally "got it". Even though soft plastics are far more productive than any other class of lures, I prefer fishing a jig. 8-)
  18. Send George Welcome a PM and ask him for a suggestion. http://www.imaginationbassin.com/ 8-)
  19. I thought that was a combo? The total was less than the cost of the reel and the rod was basically free. :-/
  20. Hey Buddy! My New Year's resolution is to stay out of these "best" threads and let everyone else play as long as they like. I'm still "trying"... :-[
  21. Back to stubborn... Curados DO NOT have a reputation for any adjustment out of the box. I have never heard this before. More importantly, Shimano will repair or replace the reel at no charge. They are as far away as your post office.
  22. Hmm... Seems similar to the argument for camouflage clothing as opposed to bright colors. Although I prefer greys, khaki, and greens, the pros find a way to snag a few wearing bright yellows, red and even white with audacious patches! I don't think it makes a bit of difference what you wear or the color of a rod. The fish don't care. 8-)
  23. Several of us told you to have the reel replaced. "Frustrated" or just stubborn? :
