Mike Iaconelli talked about this a few weeks ago. He said always fish quarter casts (45*angle) , not parallel to cover or straight up or down structure. I believe the theory involves covering more water with greater variance. 8-)

For those who like the more traditional reel size, he Core 100MG is a great choice. I happen to prefer the Core 50MG7, but I am fishing both. Mine were purchased from members on our Flea Market. I think I paid about $280 NIB, delivered. 8-)

A couple of feet. Most depth ratings are based on line diameter of .010" or .011". That would be Hybrid 6 or 8. #15 Hybrid is .016". I fish #12, .013" diameter. The solution is simple: Fish crankbaits that run somewhat deeper than your target depth. 8-)

This race is pitiful. Starting the season without a race track? Gimmie a break! Last year's tire issues and yellow flag finishing were awful, but this takes the cake. :-X

That's not universally true at all. Higher end lures come with hooks that cannot be improved upon. Examples would be both Rapals X-Raps and Lucky Craft VMC hooks. Many single hook lures use Mustad, Gamakatsu or Owner brands. 8-)

No "best" just "favorite". Try a few and see which you like. I fish #12 Yo-Zuri Hybrid on baitcasters; #6 on spinning tackle. 8-)

Yep, I had never been in a "life & death" situation and I was really scared. Fortunately for me, my buddy didn't need any help. In retrospect, I suspect my guy was also well armed, but that never came into play. The whole incident replays in my mind in slow motion, but that's not how it went down. 8-)

Well, kinda... Back in the 70's I was out with a friend on leave from Nam...Navy Seal, covert. We had been to a Royals game in K.C., but you know how beer can make you thirsty. We just randomly got off the highway and ended up in a biker bar...Not cool. We order a couple of beers at the bar, when the 300lb gorilla next to us grabs my buddy's beer...Not cool... Well, the end of the story had us walking slowly out the door. My pants were a little soggy, but I wasn't actually "in the fight". First dude's face exploded, then had a knee bending the wrong way. Dude #2 lost his voice, maybe permanently! I don't know whether Dude #3 survived or not, but the fight only lasted 20-30 seconds. I was concerned about the rest of their friends, to say the least. We never talked about it much, but a decade later, my friend showed up unexpectedly at my front door in Denver. Seems he had to leave the Sudan quickly. Special flight, flew direct. He had a pocket full of "real money", but not a bag or a toothbrush. We never really talked about that either.
