Well, let's put this in perspective... For jigs and soft plastics, the GLX series is outstanding. For "moving" lures, I find the St. Croix Avid series an excellent choice. Although the blanks may not be quite on par with the GLX, components, craftsmanship and warranty are comparable at a much lower cost. 8-)

I'm going to work on spinnerbaits. I rarely fish these lures simply because everyone else does! However, mastering a few techniques might change my attitude. So, that's my goal for 2010. 8-)

Sure, but why? Spinning tackle is much more "user friendly". I use a Fenwick Techna AV AVS70MM/ 2500 Sustain. 8-)

During a Q&A session, the pros were asked about color and size. All agreed: 3/8 or 1/2 oz; black, brown or green with matching or contrasting colors. The #1 choice was black jig/ blue trailer. My favorites are GMAN 1/2 oz black jig/ Rage Tail Lobster, blue. For a slower drop, Evolution 3/8 Shake2, brown with black flakes/ Paca Craw or Flappin' Hog, green pumpkin w/ purple & small copper flakes. 8-)

Be patient and you can find a CH50MG NIB, or in excellent condition, for around $175. This is a great reel and keeps you on budget. 8-)

It's a silicone spray which won't hurt anything. The knock on Real Magic is that it washes off easily. Next time try KVD Line & Lure Conditioner and see if you notice a difference. 8-)
