  1. Well, we don't have the same issues here in the Mid South, but it still gets too cold to fish. For me, starting out in the twenties can work, as long as it's heading to a 40+ high. Wind, of course, is another huge factor and I don't fish in cold rain. Still, winter is Prime Time on the Tennessee River. We try to fish every Saturday, but miss a few weekends, especially in December and January. 8-)
  2. Woo-hoo! Maybe you can hook up with another New Englander, I think a few are hoping to make the trip. As far as a seat goes, don't sweat it: No one will be left behind. -Kent
  3. Hmm.. Hope it works out for you. You got a lot of great advice earlier, which you have chosen to ignore. I don't recall that mix being mentioned. :
  4. Welcome back! 8-)
  5. Most of them are, yes. They did design a couple models specifically for spinnerbaits. I've had the chance to play around with a couple of these now and I like them. I think they've done a great job with this series and now offer a rod to cover most moving bait applications. Wow! Quite an endorsement from Mr. G. Loomis GLX. If Bronzefly likes them, they gotta be special, very special. I really expected more qualifiers, like "at their pricing point". I'm impressed. 8-)
  6. Redlinerobert pointed this rod out a couple of years ago. I am surprised it doesn't get more play. More surprisingly, I don't have one!
  7. "Just in case" ;D ;D ;D
  8. Nice fish, great pic! 8-)
  9. Quantum's reputation is for shoddy products. That is the whole point. The new "Next Big Thing" doesn't count. The proof is in the pudding. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior
  10. I suspect he has a pretty good relationship with the company and his sales rep. It really comes in handy when you fish disposable gear. There is a lot of talk that the "new" Quantum is producing higher quality products. I would suggest waiting a few years to see if that turns out to be true. In the meantime, there are plenty of alternatives with proven track records. 8-)
  11. Heads up! This just popped up in the Flea Market: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1255714393/0#0 8-)
  12. The Citica is a fine reel and "Best Value" at its pricing point. However, if you have the wallet, step up to the Curado 200E7, you will not be disappointed! It compares favorably to other, higher priced Shimanos I own. 8-)
  13. I prefer soft, salty plastic. I think bass do, too! Of all the GYCB baits I fish, the Kreature is probably the one that holds up best. However, durability is never an issue to me. 8-)
  14. Welcome aboard! 8-)

  17. Before you buy, look at the 854 which I bought from Bronzefly. Much like the MBR 843 v 844, they are much different rods. For weighted soft plastics and jigs, I would recommend the BCR 854 or the MBR844C. 8-)
  18. Take it back. You're in the same rut, more junk. Get rid of all that crap you have at a garage sale, give it away or throw it away. You're full grown. Step up and buy three good rigs, one at a time. Heck, just one might do it for you. On sale at Cabela's: Fenwick Techna AV AVS70MF or AVC70MF. If you go with the spinning rod, get a Symetre 2500. For baitcasting, the Citica. 8-)
  19. Well, I wouldn't be so hasty. We have several law enforcement officers, FBI, military guys (current & former) and other gun experts on this forum. (No insult intended to anyone that has already posted). I suggest letting this thing run a few more days before deciding on a weapon. There are lots of great guns out there. Depending on what you want it for and your commitment to practice and maintenance, you might also consider a revolver. The old technology is "bullet proof". For fun shooting and home protection, the .357 Colt Python is THE BOMB! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colt_Python 8-)
  20. Geez... This story is unbelievable. I'm glad things worked out. 8-)
  21. Well, I know we have some very successful smallmouth fishermen that are going to pooh-pooh this comment, but I live by it: The difference between Yo-Zuri Hybrid #6 v #8 is the difference between catching a lot of fish or none at all. 8-)
  22. Yeah, I saw that on the other thread. Just need one more win! :
  23. So far, right on track! Just need one more win!
