I use the Johnny Morris Guidewear Rainy River Goretex Jacket and pants. They’re packable and not too warm for spring through fall. I fish a lot in the rain and they’ve kept me dry so far.

I very rarely try new lures. I keep it simple by just throwing what I have confidence in.

Does anyone know how to take the knobs off of this reel? The caps won’t pop off like other Daiwa reels. I don’t like the round knobs and want to replace them with SV knobs.

I’d go with the Metanium. Especially when they’re $260 at Digitaka. I have a Chronarch and it’s not in the same league as the Met or a Zillion.

I’d just use the braid you have. Let out enough line for a decent cast, then put a piece of electric tape on the spool. That way he won’t have to dig out any blowups until he gets the hang of it.

I had forgotten all about Amazon Japan before I ordered mine. I checked and they have a few left for $276 after shipping. Never mind. Says cannot ship to United States.

Received my new Zillion today. Got an email from Japan Lure Shop on Tuesday that they shipped it. 3 days from Japan to Virginia. ? They even threw in a free Megabass Vision 110. Zero adjust was a little tighter than I like so I loosened it up some more.

$23 a year for State freshwater license in Virginia. Additional $23 for trout stamp.
