  1. That’s not a bad idea. I’ve got some foam laid on the bottom to protect the battery from the transducer screws. I guess I could glue or Velcro some to the sides to make “compartments”.
  2. Oh, I’ve got it installed. It just seems messy and unorganized inside the pod. I coiled up the transducer cable and zip tied it.
  3. Let us know how you like it. I’ve been eyeing a couple of the McCain’s.
  4. Seems like the $100-125 reel market has gone to crap, but I’ve heard good things about the SLX, and it felt pretty comfy and sturdy in the hand.
  5. This. These are money. Dunno why, they’ve caught me more fish than the Keitech’s. They’re the only ones that have outfished them, though. And I appreciate the price on em.
  6. Even if you chop the legs off, looks like a decent wake bait. Idk why, but wake baits are one of my favorite things to fish. The market seems a little small on them, so I’m always looking for cool new ones.
  7. Same. Between brush hogs, and curly tail grubs/worms that all have similar action, they just take up space in the tackle trays and add space to my wallet. Might be kinda interesting to wacky rig one, though.
  8. My 3Waters Big Fish finally came in last week. I bought a fish finder, and got my sonar pod all rigged up, but it’s got like 25 feet of transducer cord. And it seems like the battery is just there to bounce around. I know I’m being anal, but has anyone kinda cleaned up the clutter in their sonar pod? I’m generally an unorganized lunatic, except when it comes to my fishing stuff. I’d like to clean it up a bit and make it purty.
  9. Technically speaking, you’re asking for 2 rods. You want something with a parabolic bend for glides, it’ll help you from not ripping the trebles out of the fishes mouth. You also don’t want that for baits like Huds, because you need to get that big jig style hook in the top of its mouth.
  10. Does anyone have a free navigation app they use that you can drop waypoints? I don’t really need it for actual navigation, as the reservoirs I’ll be fishing aren’t that big. But dropping waypoints on things like certain pieces of structure would be nice.
  11. Some guys dream of fast supercars, model girlfriends or big 34 bedroom mansions. I dream of a 365 day long topwater season.
  12. This. I almost bought a Tatula because of all the great things I’ve heard about em. They feel like big ugly rocks in my hand. I couldn’t get past that, so I bought a Curado. I’m sure the great things I’ve heard about the Daiwa’s are true, but it just didn’t fit me. In fact I’ve been trying to find a 100 locally to check out, hoping it’ll fit my paws.
  13. I’ve got a couple crankbaits. They’re ok, but they don’t seem to have much action to them. I guess that type of bait has its place. The topwater walking bait I bought got chucked. It sank ?.
  14. There’s just too much “umph” needed to set the hook on any frog to get those hooks driven in. They’re not small hooks.
  15. Caught my biggest this year on a frog. Came in at 6.7. No pictures, so I guess it didn’t really happen. Funniest thing about it was I caught it in a very heavily pressured city pond, so not many of the locals believed me, either. Until I showed em pictures of a few other 5+ pounders I caught out of the same pond.
  16. I broke the tip off my 7’ MH, so I started throwing pretty much all but the tiniest jigs and Texas rigs on my flippin stick. Ended up being a much better rod for it for me. So if you’ve got a frog tied on your flippin stick, keep a jig tied on your new 7’ heavy. Or vice versa, if you’re pitching, use your flippin rod and keep a frog tied on the other.
  17. I was going to order the Sierra, because of the pricing. But I didn’t see any cranking sticks.
  18. They don’t. I ordered a 705CB.
  19. For those that don’t use an inflatable, can you suggest one that’s slim and not bulky? I’m leaning towards an HIT inflatable, but I’m not opposed to a slim standard model.
  20. Yeah, this is my first Dobyns, though. I figured I’d test it out a bit first before I went that route ?
  21. This is pretty much all the info I needed, thanks.
  22. The wife and I both finally decided it was time to order some kayaks. We’ve been talking about it for almost a year. I ordered a 3 Waters Big Fish 105, and she got a Perception Pescador Pro 10. We don’t have a whole lotta storage space, and haven’t quite figured out the transporting the kayaks thing figured out, yet, hence the 10 footers. I will I’ll probably end up buying some sort of trailer for them eventually, but for now we’ll car top them. First things first, though. I’m not a big fan of wearing anything bulky while fishing, so I’ve been eyeing the inflatable PFD’s. They don’t seem much more expensive than most of the other types. What are the pros and cons of them?
  23. Not necessarily related to their rods, but felt like I had to give them a shout out. I haven’t used the rod, yet, other than making a few casts in the back yard. It definitely looks good, and feels great so far. Bought a new Fury from TW, and it came with a pretty cool little EVA rod tip protector for shipping. I really appreciated the extra care they put in making sure my rod got to me in good condition, and I really liked the tip protector. A lightbulb popped in my head, and I thought “I definitely need more of these, especially for when I travel with a bunch of rods”. I googled, but couldn’t find anything like it, so I emailed Dobyns customer service, and asked where I might find some. I got an email back from them asking me how many I needed. Long story short, they sent me about 7 or 8 of em free of charge. I’m sure they aren’t expensive, and they probably order them by the ton, but that meant a lot to me. They were also very responsive and quick to get back to me, even though I didn’t have a real problem. That kind of service is worth gold, in my book. I’ll probably end up ordering a shirt or hat off their website this week, just as a thanks to the company.
  24. They have reality shows based on guys like you. ?
  25. I literally just had my new Dobyns/ Pro G combo delivered the other day, haha! I agree with NHBull. Run braid, add a leader whenever necessary. I’m not a fan of fluoro, it’s too d**n hard to manage for me. But I realize it’s usefulness for certain applications, so I’ll use it as a leader if needed.
