  1. I asked Mike Bucca what the difference between the two (plastic (baby) and resin(original)) and he did not want to answer other than size, as he would have to put 1 product over the other and he did not want to. Many others chimed in and said that resin (original) is well worth it in terms of durability and options. Many prefer beat up pain but others are paying BIG bucks for the CHROME/flash on some of his baits where he partnered with a painter who is doing some really nice work.
  2. I thought they were 1/2 oz? 6th sense has them at 1/2oz while TW has them at 7/8oz.
  3. Just wondering why? I just bought two yesterday---Thanks guys (that bluegill pattern looked too good to pass up for this spring). I would imagine just ripping it out of weeds and letting it sit there.
  4. I would say overall fish are in the same spots at night, but from my experience some times it takes them a little longer to locate the bait (I catch a ton of fish near the boat on topwater or even bringing my jigs back in) or they just do not see the boat as easily and that makes this phenomenon happen. Either way, it's fun. Get out there and see what works for you. I have my best luck at twilight, then an hour or two lull, then its good again. No idea why it is like that.
  5. He still could... A while back I ordered some of their 5lb bulk plastics and a reel. I contacted them saying I have not seen anything- they gave me a new tracking number and when I got it- It was a quarter sized lipless crankbait with rusted hooks... never heard from them again-had to contact my credit card to get reimbursed.
  6. No direct dates from me- but I think it is going to be 2 weeks later than normal.
  7. Nice! I was going to try and stop up there. I do not need much tackle but wanted to try out a kayak or two. Maybe I will swing by and say hi- I've caught 4 small mouth in my life!
  8. No secret. I can usually let a jerkbait sit there and catch a fish some days. It is pretty fertile, the issue is A LOT and I mean a lot, of dinks... Last spring I had a day from 5am to 3pm in I had 75ish fish with 3 keepers all of which barely made 14" (in lower MI)
  9. Yeah, I kill it on jerkbaits all year. Obviously prespawn and late fall are better but I can still do a 50+ fish day in the middle of summer on a jerkbait.
  10. I definitely prefer the jerkbait. Just trying to get it down during those hot summer days is nearly impossible. Good thoughts on the worm or chatterbait- I also include swimjigs in the mix.
  11. Anybody going to the Tinley Park Show?
  12. Good stuff right there. I tend to love the widest wobble (I feel I catch more fish with them) but maybe that is just the bait catching me... Something I will definitely keep track of more this year.
  13. After reading a "tip" this morning from Fritts, "If the treble hook of my crankbait is barely in the mouth of the fish, that's not the best color. If the fish has the hook deep in its mouth, then that's the color I'll keep fishing." I was wondering if this holds true for you. I barely ever have a crankbait CHOKED. I use a mod action glass rod and feel I am not burning the bait- but almost always just have it hooked on the back treble. I am wondering if it could be the color or my speed or mood of the fish. This is in very clear water if that would be another variable. Anybody get them to Choke their baits in clear water? TIA
  14. Did all of you get a confirmation email from Dobyns by any chance? I haven't seen anything just fearing the worst. Thanks
  15. I just picked up a 713C as well.
  16. OK so I have reached out to a few vendors and it seems most are around the same price with various details. Being in chicago it is difficult to try every one of them... Obviously I will be looking at reviews but what specs should stand out? A lot of the yaks have width differences and depth at beam... What type of seat should I be looking for?
  17. At all the swimbait shows out east he is showcasing his "custom" paints for over $100. They are beautiful- I just hope I can get my hands on one in the future. They things have awesome action (I just got one a few weeks ago and threw it when I saw some open water to check the action). Hopefully, the fish tell me how they like it around here.
  18. Thank you. Just getting more info as I have never done the whole kayak thing and wasn't sure with that system, if people used a paddle with it. It seems 1 out of 2 use a paddle/hand paddle still. Thanks guys for all the info. I will definitely still be looking at these for a while so feel free to continue to contribute and open my eyes a bit more! Trying to find a few places with demos.
  19. I would assume you keep a paddle with you in the compass. Do you end up using a paddle for positioning or do you just settle with what you get from the Mirage Drive?
  20. Have you done both? If so, which do you like more?
  21. Is there a reason you want to go non pedal drive? I thought that would have been a necessity for fishing?
  22. Agreed. Find the right conditions would increase your chances- but there are always opportunities else where.
  23. Well, I am open for whatever. As always I would be most interested in best bang for my buck. As I would not want to put a large deposit on that glass boat I am interested in, into a yak that I may not get back.
  24. Don't care- if it is paddle or peddle. Prefer peddle just to keep my hands fishing. Lakes and rivers No trolling motor. I would be fine paddling/peddling wherever I go. I would love to stand especially flipping/pitching- Concerned with stability on setting hook
  25. I hear that I may be able to fit in one @ 6'4'' and 300 lbs. I have no experience with kayaking but with trailer fees skyrocketing and maintenance going up I feel its less and less likely that I get a boat until I save up for my dream boat. Until then I wouldn't mind being able to run around and have some more freedom with the yaks as I don't have a boat locally. I've heard big rig/vibe sea ghost and looking for more options Any big guys have experience with any makes/models? TIA
