anyone have a home use line spooler?
Pretty simple really Bolted a short piece of 1/8" angle to a piece of aluminum plate - countersunk machine screws from underneath held by nuts and lock washers. Bolted the tall piece to that, drilled a 5/16" hole up high Length of 5/16" threaded rod is held by washer, lock washer, nut both inside and out. Then it's a standard washer, compression spring, fender washer, spool, fender washer, compression spring, standard washer, spring clamp. You adjust the tension on the line by moving the spring clamp closer to or further from the spool. The big spring clamp secures it to the work-bench when spooling up...it's strong enough.

When do you guys toss out your jigs?
Sharpen the hook, replace skirts if needed, touch up the paint with enamels. Only time I toss away jigs is A: An ESOX steals it B: Line snaps on the cast.

Spool tension bands
I looked at those 2 for $8-$11 'fishing spool retainers' and laughed...arts and crafts...25 for $18 for 'the exact same thing'. Now you see what happens when a fishing brand gets put on it instead of generic. https://www.amazon.com/Beadalon-25-Piece-Spool-Tamer-Set/dp/B00KAZ137Y/ref=sr_1_2?crid=1Y8HGR2KNYEN3&keywords=spool+band&qid=1689004476&sprefix=spool+band%2Caps%2C126&sr=8-2

Lost my spool tension knob for my Shimano SLX
Here's a part of the schematic for the base SLX 150 showing the tension knob and items under it. Part of the parts list with Shimano part #s Need to know your exact model - then go to SLX Schematics - find your model, then you can confirm that you have all the parts, or which ones in addition to the knob itself you have to get.

Do you have any experience with the Daiwa Procyron line of rods?
I have this one - it's my Ned/Drop-shot rod. Light, sensitive...I'm not planning on 'upgrading' it anytime soon.

What's a better knot for fluorocarbon?
I'm still using the MK knot - hasn't failed me whether it's 4# Seige or 20# BasiX and everything in between. Might take a little longer to tie than others, but it's my 'confidence' knot.
-
Old vs new technology Shimano’s
I don't listen to him at all. I'm loving my 21-Ultegra and both my 22-Miravels...light, smooth....only question is the same one Mike had about longevity.

Braid to fluorocarbon connection knot question
FG at home - Alberto on the water if I need to replace a leader.

Jig Setup
As others have said - depends on the situation. 50# straight braid, 40# braid with 20# FC leader, 15# straight FC...that's how the three rigs I toss jigs on are spooled.

Pflueger Handle Compatability
It's an interesting question...so I went downstairs and compared handles from my Miravel-2500, President XT-30 and Supreme-30 Then did the same with my President-25, Ultegra-1000 and Miravel-1000 The Pflueger screw is slightly larger than the Shimano screw...so no, you can't interchange them Don't know about Daiwa - don't own any

Latest Catch Pics Thread
Another successful day in Bass Trek - doubled my previous high-count to 6. While a couple were small there were three 'scoreables' including the last of the day, a 3# caught on a Mike Seibert 3/8 swim jig with a Rage Craw trailer...both in GP. Rest of the day's catch was either on a 1/8oz Owner Block Head Ned with a GP Mr. Twister Ned Ringer in the weeds, or a 3/32 Gamakatsu Finesse Jig with a GP Zoom Speed Worm for Jig&Worm along the weed edges Just made it inside the cut at 12" and 1.05# Wife wanted to see one, so I texted her a pic of this little one. Another little one Just missed the cut with this one. This one went 14" and 1.52# Lunker of the day - 3.06# So a very fun time...pulled the boat out from the ramp at 7:05am, grounded her back at the ramp at 3:56pm...ya...afternoon was a bust.

8lb fluoro for spinning finesse?
Another vote for the InvisZ - that's what's on my wacky/neko rig. Though if you can afford it - upgrade to Tatsu. Don't forget the KVD...it really does make a difference.

Win Seaguar Tatsu plus some cool swag!
I've entered... If you're getting 'caught' by Captcha - clear your history...including cookies, then close and re-open your browser. I had this same issue a couple contests ago and that fixed it right up.

Adventures in Boat Rebuilding - Or Why did I buy this thing?
^ Guess I'm lucky - there's a West Marine less than 30 minutes from me. I get most of my marine supplies there...what I don't order from T-H Marine anyway.

Adventures in Boat Rebuilding - Or Why did I buy this thing?
I use the butt connectors with the adhesive heat shrink as a unit when I'm connecting main-run to end-item like lights, pumps, etc. Only wire I'll ever use in a boat is Ancor Marine Grade.
