Jig size and brand advice
3/8oz for the first two, 1/2oz for the second two (ya, the mid-size works on both). I like the Strike King Tour Grade, though I am also looking at Mike's swim jigs ( https://siebertoutdoors.com/products/ols/categories/swim-jigs )

Always loved this one by Isaac Asimov "The day you stop learning is the day you begin decaying."

Handtied Marabou Crappie Jigs
Plus a 'wiggle factor' for consumables - your scissors/nippers for cutting thread/wire to tie the marabou on will wear out and need to be replaced/sharpened - and anything else that gets used without being part of the finished product. There's always 'waste' (whoops, not quite enough thread/wire on this spool to make another so it's tossed or this jig head is hosed so can't use it), business license, taxes - if you're running this as a business, you have to pay income tax, and FICA (which is actually twice what a pay-stub from an employer shows...they pay the other half but self-employed, you pay it all) All this is classified as 'Cost of doing business' and you have to make enough profit to cover these things and still have money left over to get better tools, etc. so you can expand.

Labor IS part of the cost... For something small like this...I'd work an hour, see how many you can make...then divide a fair hourly wage by the number you get out. That's your labor cost per unit.

Handtied Marabou Crappie Jigs
I know it from running a custom cabinet-making business out of my basement back in the 90s.

Don't forget to put the time it takes you to make one into your cost.

you keep cash in your wallet?
Our self-checkouts only take cards...you want to pay cash, hit one of the regular lanes.

Battery Q's & Suggestions
I wouldn't draw it down that close to zero - but 6 hours would be entirely feasible.

I searched my memory but I think I just caught my first spinnerbait bass today.
My best of the past few years was on a spinnerbait in the middle of summer. Burning a 3/8oz Strike King Banshee chartreuse/white with a pit boss trailer in Skeet's Chartreuse Shad along the edge of some lily pads in 3'-5' of water caught this beauty...ya, it's my avatar pic in full size.

Man, so many choices, so little money available to spend. You're killing me, Mike.

What line should I use for Chatterbaits/ what line do you use for Chatterbaits?
I'm kinda a tackle junkie too - but on a budget. This year will be the first year I spend over $100 on a rod or reel - though I do have a couple good reels that I bought used. Everything else was bought on sale.

What line should I use for Chatterbaits/ what line do you use for Chatterbaits?
$100 range - I'd go with a Daiwa before a Lews. CA-80 or Fuego CT.

you keep cash in your wallet?
I usually keep between $20 and $50 in my wallet for incidental expenses. If it gets above that, I drop it into my personal checking account - wife and I have a joint account for bills, groceries, etc; but I have a personal one for my fishing/modeling expenses.

On a moving bait like chatters and spinners, it's not that big a deal.

Deep Purple
Ya, I've been listening to Deep Purple since the 70s...good stuff. Actually, I like Blackmore's Night...it's another genre I enjoy listening to...and his wife Candice has a great voice.

Only line I don't use conditioner on is Braid. And it's always KVD L&L.

Chatters and spinners for me are on 12# Yo-Zuri Hybrid - same line I use for my crankbaits.

Towing with an EV
My question is - where is all the power to charge these batteries going to come from? Right now we're at capacity. Wind and Solar - only usable in certain locations and take LOTS of 'real estate' Hydroelectric - pretty much anyplace that can have a dam has it, and with rivers dropping for the big ones, they're going to have reduced production. Nuclear - so many people afraid of accidents, but nuclear plants, especially the latest generation, have the highest safety rating of anything. Oil/Gas/Coal - they're trying to phase these out, but currently generate most of the country's power (2500 billion KWH vs 1600 billion KWH for everything else combined) https://www.eia.gov/tools/faqs/faq.php?id=427&t=3 Also the current grid is at capacity - you start trying to transmit all the energy needed for all these EVs and your going to experience more rolling blackouts/brownouts. EV isn't going to be feasible until the twin problems of generation and transmission of electrical power can be worked through.

Anyone else a metalhead?
Oh it was a good one. Two 'local' groups opened Plague of Stars - out of Madison, WI. Death metal, which I'm not a fan of, but they were technically proficient. AfterTime - Symphonic Metal from Minneapolis. Very good group, lead singer has a great voice...this is one I'm gonna follow. Sharon, of course, was perfect and the guys hit everything right on the button. Oh, and the Evanescense/WT "Worlds Collide Tour" starts in Europe in November...so not long after finishing the NA leg of the "Legacy of the Beast" tour with Iron Maiden.

Anyone else a metalhead?
YES...another convert! They're only in the states through the end of this month...but next year kicks off a new tour with Evanescence, and in an IG chat with Amy and Sharon, they both indicated they'd like to do a collaboration.

Fishermen caught cheating at Ohio tournament sentenced to 10 days
Even if nothing comes from the legal side - I think a lifetime ban on them being involved in any tournament should be enacted.
-
you all use Casting practice plugs?
If I want to practice - I got some dipsy sinkers here that I use.

Anyone else a metalhead?
Since WT was the other act - what did you think of them?

Anyone else a metalhead?
And tonight I go see Within Temptation in Minneapolis.

Battery Q's & Suggestions
Yep - I've got a 35ah AGM that runs everything BUT the TM. Lights, sonar, pumps, cameras and tablet. A 5 hour outing and it's still at 75% according to my NOCO charger. 100ah AGM for the TM and a 550cca wet-cell that does nothing but start the 25hp Evinrude.
