  1. That Veritas is rated to 1oz, so as long as you don't try bombing the 1oz lures you should be fine. Some recommend a mod or mod-fast action for chatters, but I use a fast with no issues.
  2. Here-here - when I joined up 3.5 years ago I saw that almost immediately. Good group, good admins...gotta credit Glenn and the Mods for keeping on top of things. And the members too for being patient and willing to share knowledge.
  3. Not really - fish aren't that smart. Bass are 'opportunistic ambush predators', that's why they hang out behind rocks, in weeds or on weed-bank edges...ambush spots. If they see something that looks edible and it's 'in range', they'll attack. They don't care about spines, they just want to eat if they're hungry.
  4. Something like this? Mike Bucca's Baby Bull Gill in Crappie - 3.75" 3/4oz - I cast this on my Dobyns FR-704C/Patriarch with 40# 832
  5. I feather at the rim of the spool...tried in front and I seem to have more control the other way.
  6. Don't plan on it - the wood bunks are 'temporary'...probably next year replace them with Ultimate Bunks. https://www.ultimatebunkboards.com/ A-Jay put those on under his Lund and loves them...just not in the budget for this year.
  7. You should look through the thread to see what I've done so far...
  8. You're supposed to keep a firm hold of it when using.
  9. Close to being done setting the feet. To keep them in line bow-to-stern, I'm using my 'long straight edge'. Set the foremost one, set the rearmost one, place the straight edge between those and set the rest against the straight edge...and they all line up.
  10. Well, with 2 of the top 5 lithium mining companies based in China - kinda makes sense. https://www.nsenergybusiness.com/features/largest-lithium-mining-companies/
  11. Did Tank and Kya enjoy the snow at least?
  12. I went out once in my teens - never again...even though I caught a few slab crappie and a keeper walleye, it wasn't worth the misery.
  13. Go Lynn!
  14. I dunno about LakeVu - but the Strikers won't have it in either case.
  15. 200yd spools of InvizX up to 12# test at Fleet Farm are the same price as 200yd spools of Trilene FC. Just sayin' https://www.fleetfarm.com/detail/seaguar-invvizx-fishing-line/0000000258377
  16. Even with my 1000 size reels - I hold it like Bill does...pinky behind the stem, rest in front. When I had the President-20 (500 size), I still did it that way. Even way back with the Pflueger 640 - about a 750 size - I did it. To each their own I guess.
  17. I don't doubt that a long soak removed the line-memory. Since nylon-monofilament is hydroscopic, it's absorbed water deep into the line. This causes the nylon molecules to be 'lubricated' by the water through the entire diameter. I think if you did checks before and after, you'll find that the diameter of the soaked line is a little bigger than that of the dry line. Ya, side effect of all that water in the structure is going to be limper line for sure - but it's also going to be stretchier and weaker as the nylon molecules aren't as closely attached as they were when dry. I think if you let a soaked spool sit for a few weeks to completely dry out - you'll find that the line-memory has returned as all the water has leeched out. Simple physics. Like cheezy said - I'll take the memory over a weaker/stretchier line. Some articles on water-absorption in nylon and it's effects. "Effects of Moisture Absorption on Properties The water molecules that hydrogen bond between the nylon polymer chains cause the to move farther apart from each other. This causes a ‘loosening’ of the molecular attraction which causes a reduction in mechanical properties and an increase in fluidity. The glass transition temperature reduces, and can drop by 20°C or more. The strength and stiffness decrease while the impact and toughness increase. The amount of reduction in mechanical properties is dependent on the amount of moisture absorbed." https://www.amcopolymers.com/resources/blog/nylon-and-moisture-absorption "Effect of moisture on properties Moisture acts as a plasticizer in nylon and therefore reduces strength and stiffness properties but increases elongation and toughness." https://knowledge.ulprospector.com/1489/pe-dry-vs-conditioned-polyamide-nylon/
  18. Care to share the secret? 50+ years of using spinners with mono, FC and hybrid and I still have line-memory...though rigorous use of KVD reduces it quite a bit.
  19. I'd go with a Colorado at the end of the wire, followed by a Willow. Looks like something that needs thump and flash.
  20. City re-zoning or taxes took out 3 of ours...last of the 'old crew' left in the area is 20 minutes away I frequented all three - one was where I always took my old Duo with the 40hp Evinrude to be worked on when needed as the owner was a certified Johnson/Evinrude service tech. New one opened up several years ago - but he's primarily a custom rod maker and runs a guide service. The convenience stores in the area have picked up the slack, with one of them actually having tanked minnows and leeches instead of 'bagged'.
  21. I think at this point, Andy could almost ride in Tank's lap.
  22. I suffered this addiction 40 or so years ago. Minolta XD-5...still have it...I've got something like 1/2 dozen lenses for it.
  23. Need to know - how many amps does the trolling motor draw max, how long do you intend to be out, is the battery running anything else. All those factor into how 'big' a battery you need. A 90ah battery would run my canoe all day long - but it only had a 30#TM, no lights, and a Striker 7 sonar. I'm looking for at least a 100ah if not two for the TM alone in the F-9...and a separate battery to run everything else.
  24. There is no escaping the Bait Monkey - the best you can hope for is to delay him a bit.
