  1. (looks at his un-adorned fishing shirts and sighs) Can I borrow yours?
  2. Dang - if I was to take a 'road trip' around the metro here's the places I could stop Cabelas DSG Scheels Sportsman's Warehouse Joe's Sporting Goods Gander Outdoors Fleet Farm Omnia
  3. One of these days I'm gonna stop in Omnia's place - it's only a stone's throw from my parent's house...30 minutes from me.
  4. Like this? Or this?
  5. If it's legal to use, and it works...go for it.
  6. Ours was gone by yesterday morning - we're at 61 now.
  7. Got that straight - we can't even use sunnies, perch or crappie as bait.
  8. Ya - but I'd almost prefer the proverbial broomstick to an Ugly Stick. I had one - got rid of it as soon as I could...thing felt dead.
  9. Really - rods and reels are 'outdoor items'. They ARE going to get dinged, scuffed, etc...it's just the nature of using them.
  10. Now we have an issue - I don't know of any $50 rod that can handle 2oz lures... Aird-X Heavy only goes to 1.5oz max rating.
  11. You've got the degrees and minutes already 41 24 the number after the decimal - multiply by 60 to get the seconds .2028*60=12.168 seconds. Divide by 60 to go the other way
  12. Compared to my old Ambassadeur 500R on the Ambassadeur rod - all my rigs are 'lightweights. BC runs 11.38oz to 12.19oz total without line Spin runs 10.28oz to 13.59oz without line Weighed the Ambassadeur rig just for S&G - 18.65oz
  13. Did you look or just assume? I-Boating uses data from the USGS, so ponds that Navonics/Lakemaster ignore might still be there.
  14. I'm not all that hung up on weight either. One reel that impressed me enough to get another is the Pflueger Supreme - and it's 7.8oz. Another reel I have two of is the Fuego CT at 7.6oz. I'm no spring-chicken either and I've had no issues using either.
  15. I'll say it again - Diawa Aird-X. Retails for $55, but you can find them for as low as $45. Darn good rod for the price...I still have two in my current arsenal.
  16. You might be surprised - I-Boating's website is free...you can search for your water there, then 'print' the screen to a JPEG if it turns out they have the contour map. Just scroll in-out and click/drag around to center on your spot. http://fishing-app.gpsnauticalcharts.com/i-boating-fishing-web-app/fishing-marine-charts-navigation.html#3.32/45.70/-100.85
  17. I-Boating app - $20 for a year subscription. Good contour maps, GPS tracking, set waypoints and you can record your day as well...this is a screen-shot of one of my days on the water.
  18. X3 on the Aird-X. Started with those and though I've upgraded most of my rods, I still have two Aird-X rods in this years arsenal.
  19. He's looking for something hard-sided that doesn't collapse - all those are soft-side bags. You could always get some HDPE sheets and build one - or just get an oversize milk crate like this one https://www.target.com/p/storage-crate-black-room-essentials-8482/-/A-75666888#lnk=sametab
  20. Problem is - if you add a Fuji for the second keeper - you're going to be constantly adjusting it as different lures have different distances between hooks...and if you get a 3-treble lure, that's a whole 'nother ballgame.
  21. You know how good they are when the convenience stores around here sell them.
  22. Then this...https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Daiwa_Tactical_View_Lure_Covers/descpage-DLCZ.html, or any other lure wrap
  23. If it's a treble lure - I hook it to the first guide - that keeps it far enough away from the rod-blank to prevent scratching.
