  1. I'd love to just be able to afford a 3-4HP to put on mine. With the 30#TM, I'm limited to how far I can go from the launch as my time is limited.
  2. This is pretty much across the board for all Pure Fishing brands. Mitchell has very few reels in stock, so does Pflueger. I wouldn't be surprised that Fenwick, Penn, Shakespeare, and Stren are also limited in what they have available.
  3. I guess I'll skip the chip this time round and keep using my Galaxy Tab and I-Boating - can't afford both a new unit and the chip...and the unit itself not until my Yule 'gift' comes from the parents.
  4. ^ ^^ ^^^ Ya - you need a stouter rod and braid (at least 40#) to set the hook properly when fishing a frog. My frogging rod is a Heavy/Fast with 50# braid on it.
  5. I just wish I could find a list of what lakes they offer for the 'built in' maps.
  6. The outriggers I have on the canoe let me stand for flipping/pitching.
  7. ^ Go with this - my frog reel is the 8.1 Fuego CT. Solid, smooth, durable.
  8. I think it's more habit. They school up as fry - safety in numbers - and even as the numbers decline due to predation or whatever - they stay with their 'year group' for as long as possible. That's why they school up by size - it's just the group they hatched with and they stay together by habit.
  9. At this point I've removed all three original seats and replaced with 2x2 aluminum angles supporting 2x12 treated/painted wood. Clamps and straps to hold the shape between removal of originals and installation of new...haven't had any issues with floatation changes.
  10. Well, considering the only 'scorable' bass I've caught this year was on a swim jig with Pit Boss trailer - it's either use trailers or not catch any.
  11. Ya - different states have laxer regs than we do.
  12. Maybe not - but no matter where he is, I'd check the local regs before going into capture/release of minnows/crayfish.
  13. Center of the body - less chance of it being ripped off the lure...I'm a cheap b-tard by necessity, the more times I can reuse it, the less I have to spend.
  14. Add to that, any unused that you don't expect to use before they die have to be trashed - can't even return them to the same water you caught them in.
  15. I can vouch for the Fury. I have the 702SF that I use for all my finesse work. Light, sensitive...great rod for the price.
  16. I've actually done some more work on it since this pic. One of these days I'll get new pics and even a vid up that goes over what I've done to it.
  17. Can't tell exactly, but looks to be just below where the lip of the spool starts curving over...if so, that's about where you want it.
  18. Sorry - state record smallie is only 8-0...out of luck there too.
  19. Ya, I know - if I was a snowflake I'd get mightily offended...I'll just shake my head and catch fish with my spinning rods and laugh.
  20. Well, you'd never weight one caught up here then...that's our state record. Well, you won't be fishing for bass then if you want anything DD size up here.
  21. Weigh it too...can't forget that...but ya, unless it's a 'keeper' for the freezer - right back in the water.
  22. Back when I did do wading of creeks, streams and small ponds (my old trout-fishing days) - one rod. Trying to carry another and switch off was a pain in the rumpus.
  23. Not that I've noticed - long as the fray stays out of the knot itself. It's just something that happens with multi-strand line - whether that's braid for fishing or rope for tying up the boat - a cut end will fray.
  24. Ya, my canoe is also stored in an unheated garage - Fry and I live close to each other - and I haven't had any issues either. Not only do we get below zero - sometimes we stay below zero for days, not even going above for the daytime high.
  25. PM him here Click on the link in the right side-bar to go to his web-page, there's a 'Contact Us' link there.
