  1. Since my Pres-25 only holds 90yds of 6# - and it's the only spool size available for the reel - it's pretty much a moot point for me. A 330yd source-spool of the Sufix Elite I use gives me 3 full refills plus extra for my drop-shot weights - I use VMC SpinShot hooks, so tie that on, tie a length of line on the other end, put the weight on. Since I'm not fishing deep waters, the 90yds is more than enough. And since I'm not trying to cast far distances with it, I can use quite a bit of the line on the reel before having to re-spool.
  2. I just choose to use a smaller reel for finesse. Currently have a Pflueger President 25 on my Fury 702SF - that's about a 1000 size reel.
  3. It will make a difference - you've got friction from the spool rim happening. The fuller the spool is, the less it's going to rub on the rim, reducing the friction.
  4. Line is going to fade/get stained because of use. It doesn't affect the strength or characteristics. Long as you don't have nicks in the line, it's fine.
  5. Ya, we're getting our money's worth from Prime as well.
  6. The 'set' I got is a Master - receiver locking pin and coupler locking pin...keyed alike. One key on my key-ring, the other in a safe place at home. $22 from Amazon.
  7. ^ Canoe behind a full-size pickup with topper. I even have to lift the rear-window and drop the tailgate to see it fully when turned. Which is also a pain since I'm missing my right eye, so I have to turn even more in my seat to see it when backing up.
  8. Paint/finish is going to get dinged up anyway just from being used. Owner Stingers is all I use for treble replacements.
  9. Indian Lake, Green Hill Pond or the Assumption College Pond? All of those were good to me when I lived there.
  10. Since I transport my rods lashed between the rear and mid seats of the canoe - first-choice lures are tied on before I head out.
  11. I use it on various rigs and multiple techniques as well. 4#-10# on spinning depending on reel size, 12# on two of my BC rigs. ^ Ya, don't forget the KVD when using YZH.
  12. It'll help you find the fish - catching them is still up to you...just like it is without the system.
  13. ^ This - if you go over the rating printed on the sticker or plate, it's asking for touble. The USCG makes those ratings for a purpose - overloading the boat either on weight/person capacity or horsepower makes it 'unsafe at any speed'. While it's not a federal violation to exceed capacity - different states have different laws on that and you should find out what the penalties (if any) are for that.
  14. Given evidence that Loons, Geese and Ducks are suffering lead poisoning - I've gone to brass and steel as economical alternatives to tungsten. Just like states have banned use of lead shot for duck/geese hunting, they're now working to ban lead weights. It's only a matter of time...and something I support.
  15. ^ Ya, this. 1/2oz for the head, plus, hook, plus skirt, plus trailer. You're not going to want to try to put it in orbit, nice easy lob-casts with that setup.
  16. Good Country/Western . . . ummm . . . I got nuttin'
  17. Ya - I'll keep with the hook-style keepers on my SK Tour Grades.
  18. Unless it's a big salt-water spinner - anything over about 10# test for mono or FC is NOT recommended on a spinning reel. I get by with 10# Yo-Zuri on my Pflueger 35 (3000 size), but I treat it with KVD every trip to make it manageable. If you want heavier test line on a spinner - braid with leader is your best bet.
  19. Sounds like the stream I grew up fishing for brookies in. Small stream running through Kirk's Woods in Greendale/Worcester that fed into Indian lake. Even as a 8-9 year old I could easily jump across it.
  20. Only rigs I use any type of swivel on is a Donkey Rig or my SpinShot hooks for drop-shotting, otherwise all my lures are direct tie.
  21. Goodnight, Gracie.
  22. Trick I do with my 90s on long casts...give it a bit of a 'pop' as you start the retrieve. That sudden jerk forward starts the tail spinning.
  23. I don't think it's the only reason. ?
  24. Here we go again....
  25. Oh my 75AH will run the TM all day - if I HAD all day. I'm limited to 4-5 hours a trip, and limited funds mean limited equipment. I'd love to explore more areas on the lake, but given the limited time and the speed the 30# will move the canoe - I can either spend an hour+ each way to better spots, or fish more than half the time I'm on the water.
