  1. While I'll fish flukes as jig trailers occasionally, most often I use them on a donkey rig with 2/0 off-set hooks.
  2. Ya, it wasn't quick...but with power everything (windows, locks, seats), velour interior, reclining split-bench...perfect 'date' car. And it was classy as well.
  3. I do have to add that I had three cars I consider 'favorites'. 1967 Dodge Coronet R/T Convertible - had the 440 in it...gas hog, always had to tinker with it...but it was a convertible! 1973 Plymouth Cuda - had the 360 - acted like it had rockets stuck up the tail-pipe and handled like it was glued to the pavement...another gas hog...but very fun to drive. 1976 Dodge Charger S/E - had the 400 option and was a really comfortable car to ride in
  4. Best car I ever had was a Dodge station wagon with a 318 in it - between my dad (who bought it new) and me (bought it off him) we put 1/4million miles on that thing and it still ran like a champ. Now I have a 19 year old Silverado with a 5.3L (327) in it...200,000 miles and it still starts and runs like most engines with less than 1/2 that mileage.
  5. I don't tow that much with my 1500 Silverado...but I easily could with the towing package mine has. If you're buying new - get the 'Max Trailering Package' - then you're good to 10,000 lbs (they say 13,000 but you always want some leeway on that)
  6. Ya...I'm a once a week fisher from mid May to October for 4-5 hours a time. Once a year maintenance is about right. Delaware Valley Tackle - look to the sponsor list on the right...he's near the bottom.
  7. It's not the fish per-se - it's the fact the the fish might get the line wrapped around the weeds/lily stalks. You need the heavy braid to cut through the weeds...otherwise bye-bye fish and lure when the line snaps.
  8. I've heard yearly for full maintenance - more often if you beat your reels hard, less if you're a infrequent fisher-person. I don't know what your down-time is - here I've got about 6&1/2 to 7 months between one season ending and the next beginning (mid to end of Oct till mid May). So I set aside one month during that for a full tear-down, clean, lube, re-assemble of my reels. Gives me plenty of time considering the low number of rigs I have (5 spinner/5 BC). Sending out might be a good option - DVT is often touted here as a great place to send reels for maintenance and Mike is frequently found answering peoples questions too.
  9. Well, Yo-Zuri doesn't even show it on their site...so this is probably correct. I found one place that still has some - but only in 12# - so if you want it, get it now before it's all gone. https://fishsoutheastern.com/products/yo-zuri-fishing-line-600-yard-10-lb?variant=13518670856236
  10. I thought you were suppose to chase the wife's tail around? Oh wait - you already did that (re: 6pound)...my mistake.
  11. Only time I use two hands to cast is if I'm trying to bomb one out there. Otherwise it's just one hand on the rod during casts. Try practicing one-handed casts...makes backhand casts much easier.
  12. Ya...braid doesn't have the 'give' of Mono/FC/Hybrid, so taps are more easily transmitted down (up?) to the rod.
  13. Between taking care of the wife and getting the last of the canoe mods done, I'm re-watching 'The Great Human Race'.
  14. Yep - one 'color' I have in several crank/jerkbaits is...Baby Bass.
  15. It's more where I'm casting rather than fish size - state record LMB is only 8#15oz. The heavy rig with 50# is for casting into heavy weeds/lilypad patches where I need the strength of the line to haul fish out of that slop...cutting through the weeds as needed.
  16. Every time I see the term 'fairy wand', I cringe. It's just another form of cut-down to me...like my using spinning rigs is somehow bad and wrong. Far as my gear - 10 rigs - 5 of them spinning.
  17. My fave is a 90, but I also toss 110s occasionally. Both sizes on a 7'0" Aird-X MH/F; last year President with 20# Power Pro, this year Supreme with 30# Power Pro.
  18. I would think that with all the fishing-shutdowns across the country, you'd be up to your gills in reel-servicing as people would want their rigs in top-working order when they finally can go out.
  19. I always thought of hockey as being a team-based gladiator combat event with chasing a little black disk as a sideline.
  20. Ya - yellow perch are also predator fish, smaller cousin of walleye, so they'll attack something that looks good to eat...white perch I'm not as familiar with having last caught one almost 50 years ago in MA. Far as the color - couple of my decent bass last year were on perch colored cranks, one on a #07 Rapala Rattlin Rap, the other on a DT-4. Find where the bass are hanging out and they'll attack a perch-colored crank.
  21. I have one of my spinning rigs set up for cranks and have Yo-Zuri Hybrid on it. Long as you use a good line conditioner (KVD is my choice) it's very manageable and I don't have issues.
  22. Yep - same here.
  23. Ya - divide that result by 800. Actual formula is (Lengthxgirthxgirth)/800 https://trophytechnology.com/calculate-the-weight-of-a-largemouth-bass-without-a-scale/
  24. If there's a DSG or Field and Stream that's open near you - go look at the F&S Kayaks...the ones made by KL Industries are just re-branded Sun Dolphins...same for the F&S Canoes made by KL.
