  1. My four spinners for the canoe run 500, 1000, 2000, 3000 in size. My 'backup', which is my panfishing rod is a 2000.
  2. First thing, right off. Find a contour map of the lake and study it. Find points, drop-offs and 'humps'. Read articles about where Bass like to hang out in relation to these features. Good starting point is https://www.bassresource.com/fishing/Reading_Maps.html
  3. Depends on the techniques you're going to use the reel for. My current spinning rigs run from a Pflueger President-20 (500 size) on a UL/F rod for light drop/split shots and Ned to a Pflueger Trion-35 (3000 size) on a MH/M rod for shallow cranks, smaller jerks and wacky rigs.
  4. I usually let one or two off when I first wake up...wife calls it 'Morning Reveille'.
  5. Same here for the most part - but 55-60yds of main line. Backing is 10# Big Game that I got in a 1500yd bulk spool.
  6. It takes a little getting use to, but ya...spinnerbaits aren't going to give you the same feed-back on an MH as they do on an M. I will say that even on my 'cheap' Aird-X, I DO feel the blade vibration of my chatterbaits on the MH, it's just not as strong as on my Aird-X M rod.
  7. I've been doing more mods this past winter. Still have a few to do, then I'm going to do a vid on everything I've done to it.
  8. Still over 3 weeks to Bass season opener here.
  9. Dude - we even got rattlers up here. Timber Rattlesnakes ARE found in SE Minnesota.
  10. I'm with Glaucus - that price-range of reels...just replace the reel.
  11. Ya, only places I get line is 'reputable' sellers - TW, FishUSA, TD, BPS, Cabelas.
  12. We've had several days like this. 70o last week - two mornings of snow this week...usually melts off by the end of the afternoon.
  13. Advantage to having the spreadsheet I track all my tackle/rigs on...and every lure/plastic I own fits into two tackle bags.
  14. I started using Abu grease and oil with my old Ambassadeur 40 or so years ago. Haven't seen a need to switch brands even though I'm using Pflueger and Diawa reels now.
  15. Even back when I had the powerboat, I used West Marine deep cycles for the TM and electronics - made by East Penn.
  16. Ya - move the 735C to be your pitch/flip/frog rod and get something like a 795SB - or other Dobyns that have SB at the end of the model number - as your swimbait rod.
  17. Ya - Minnesota you can use worms, leeches, crayfish and minnows...specific species - no a 'baby bluegill' doesn't count as a 'minnow'.
  18. I'm also a fan of YZH, but it's not the end-all/be-all of lines. Tried Flourocarbon...hated it. So of ten rigs, 4 are YZH, 3 are braid and 3 are mono - all based on the type of lures I'll be using the rigs for. This is up from 2 of 6 rigs last year. I've liked it for the applications I use it for, but if it's not your thing...so be it. I also use KVD L&L without fail on anything not-braid...yes, even the mono...really makes a difference in the memory issue.
  19. I use the VMC Spin-shots and Gammy Swivel Shot hooks. Not needed for sure, but I sure like using them.
  20. Buzzbaits - 7' MH/F Don't have any buzzfrogs
  21. It's the only pic of it I can find...
